Nice young man. Showed up on time and completed the job in a timely manner. Even gave me a military discount. Would use him for my future flooring project.

He built a crappy fence, but I still paid him because he did the effort, but he shouldn't be contacted for these types of projects period. He argued with me the whole time.

I asked him if he guaranteed his work and he told me yes for a year. He does not uphold his guarantee. It has not been a year and my shutter is pulling away from the brick on the side of the house. I called him and sent text messages numerous times but he does not reply or he makes an appointment and never shows up. Now he is blocking my number, and it is Jan and, he still has not shown up and lying.

This Cowboy deserves no stars but could not continue without choosing at least half a star. I felt confident using this company having found him through this site and hired him to install a laminate floor through my house. We supplied all the materials and pulled up the carpet in all but two rooms, with very little furniture in the house this was an easy job from a pro's point of view. I was please he could start quickly (in the future that will set of alarm bells) and he showed up as planned to begin the work. Long story short, he worked all day on a Friday and then came back on Saturday to complete most of the rest (He offered to come on Saturday, we did not ask him to) and then returned on Monday to put in the trim and finishing touches. However my kitchen contractor arrived ahead of him and was shocked at all the problems and mistakes he saw as soon as he walked inside, he asked me if the person had ever laid a floor before - he thought we had done it ourselves due to all the rooky mistakes. A list of the problems is below, suffice to say we have to pay even more now to another company to pull up this mess and start over, we will likely need to purchase more flooring as some will be unusable, cut, or damaged as they are pulled up. He also inconvenienced us by moving a sofa outside, leaving it on our front lawn in the rain despite being told twice it was a piece we were still using till new furniture arrived. We also have to get our newly painted walls and a door repaired and repainted in several places due to avoidable damage they caused. When I tried to discuss the issues with Evan Blackwell he became defensive, argumentative and very difficult to talk to, he would not concede anything had been done wrong despite laying the floor completely against the manufacturers recommendations , when I said this voided the warranty he told me it did not matter as the manufacturer *do not know what they are talking about, they do not lay the floors...* WHAT HE DID WRONG: The floor should be staggered, with at least 6" between the joints he did not space them correctly. Most of the floor has been laid without any space at the edge to allow for expansion. Evan used permanent red marker to mark where he had to cut the boards, Telling me the lines can be removed with vinegar! - but I cannot get it off. He convinced me the floor in the hallway would look better laid in a linear pattern and not staggered, I liked how it looked & he did one of the bedrooms the same way, but then in the other bedroom did both linear and staggered telling us he had to do that to avoid using a transition - which we did not want. We have had other professional floor installers in this week to quote to relay the floor, all pointed out the same issues and have advised that it's just a matter of time till the boards buckle due to the mistakes he made. I did not want to pay this company anything knowing we were going to have to redo everything and probably purchase more flooring, however after arguing with him for nearly an hour I began to feel threatened by Mr. Blackwell and his father in law (who works with him), so paid him $900 just get rid of them - I also felt if I refused to pay I would have bigger problems to deal with. When he left, we had to clean up all the cut-offs, empty boxes and other trash from our garage they failed to dispose of. They claim to have done 100 floors but that means nothing if they are all wrong.

He is a great guy. He does quality work for half the cost and is very experienced.
