it went great. he started from scratch having to demo the entire kitchen including the floor and all the old plaster and lath.  he replaced old floor joists that were of questionable integrity after 117 years, re-routed and/or replaced all the plumbing and electrical for the new layout of the kitchen, including moving plumbing vent pipes from the outside of the house to inside the wall where it belongs. he's actually replaced all the plumbing in the house now in conjunction with several other major projects. he installed all the subfloor, sheetrock, cabinets, appliances and lighting and its finished and its beautiful. being an extremely old house nothing is square or level and a lot of improvisation needs to be done especially on finishing work. he has a real talent for figuring out how to make things work in an old house where nothing was done the way we expect them to be done now.  he fabricated new thresholds for the new kitchen floor doorways and they look great. he took out parts of the dining room wall to open up the room and made new tops for the kneewalls from the old floor joists that he took out of the kitchen (a lot of sanding!). he's also done a complete strip-down and remodel of the main floor bathroom, the laundry room and the front porch (again including replacing floor joists as needed). he does excellent work at a very reasonable price and stands by his work. i keep on using him because he does a such a great job.
