1. Submitted an additional invoice for $900.00 for upgraded fixtures. Called to speak to him. Asked how we could have gone over the budgeted, (quoted), amount. Since we'd followed his instructions, by going to his supplier, and selecting from HIS selection. He advised that he didn't know how we did it, but we did. So we owed the additional $900.00. After hanging up from him I contacted his supplier, only to be advised that the fixture selection that we'd made was priced substantially LOWER than his budgeted selection. It is not considered upgraded fixtures. Rather, they are considered good, basic, entry-level fixtures. Upon calling him to present this information he became belligerent. He commenced speaking over me, and hung -up the phone. While I hoped that the bill would be deleted, it was not. I subsequently received a Past Due notice from them. I wrote a registered letter to him. With it i provided copies of the pricing information provided by his supplier, a copy of the additional invoice, a copy of the original estimate, a synopsis of our telephone conversation, and my suggestion that the additional invoice be deleted from my account. I subsequently received an email advising me that my account was paid in full.
2) A couple of months after they'd completed the work, we noticed a small, occasional, leak at the base of the toilet in the master bath. I contacted his office, only to be told that he'd send someone. But if a leak was not found, I would have to pay for the call. He sent a squad of 5 men. Of course, they could find no leak. In early/mid Feb.we noticed that the leak was now a regular occurrence. We also had evidence of water staining. I took a closer look, and found a hairline crack, that I suspected was the culprit. I took photos and sent him an email. He advised that they are not responsible for customers fixtures. They "rebuilt" the toilet in question. They then reinstalled it. They subsequently charged me for the rebuild separately. Which I paid. He now refuses any responsibility for the repair. We've since hired another plumber to repair the leak. He discovered that the hairline crack was not the cause. Rather, the toilet had been installed leaving a gap between the bottom of the toilet and the wax seal. The bottom was not making ANY contact with the seal. Thus allowing the leak.
