"I am very sorry that this HBW Warranty customer is unhappy, but here is what really happened:-Went out through HBW for main line back up. Tried to snake out line, found cast iron going to copper. Could not clean. Need to have under house repiped. Copper pipe is not meant for drain pipes. Cast iron is larger size than copper. It is improperly installed. Gave price of $2400-2800 and if we do the job will give $250 back. Customer called back in and she is going to try to get her realtor/home inspector to pay for it, as they had it listed as pvc under the house, and copper water lines. When we were at the home, the customers brother told her that he would fix it. Note: If main line is stopped up from the street, there would be water in the cleanout, and there was not water in the cleanout, thus it was stopped up under house. I also heard back from HBW yesterday, and they stated that the customer was trying to get re-imbursed for us cleaning her line. They did not cover the cleaning, due to improper installation."
The first visit appeared to go well. They were clean and neat but 3 days later the connection to the meter box came loose and the main 3/4 inch line separated and water was flowing out. It took 3 hours for 1st choice to show up. For 3 hours the water was leaking. The water company came and would not shut of the main line. The same plumber showed up and capped off the leak and requested to come back the next day to reconnect the line. The next day they showed up at 7pm and fixed the leak. two days later it leaked again. This time the leak was after the shut off valve so I was able to shut off the water. This time they sent another plumber with the original guy. The new guy had been with the company for several years and he knew plumbing. He dug up the ground to check all connections to verify they were installed properly. He found the leak and instead of fixing the poor job the first guy had done he removed all the plumbing and rerouted it using better materials. It has been a week now and no leak. I am keeping my fingers crossed. As they were cleaning up the original plumber suggested that the second leak may have been a result of walking over the piping with a lawn mower. How absurd to even suggest that the customer caused the leak when it was a poor plumbing job.
"We have apologized to this customer for any inconvenience. The first leak was caused by a faulty part. We went out on that Sunday and repaired that leak. We went back out on Monday and worked on the landscaping of the yard. When the customer called us back that Friday, we went out and found that something heavy appeared to have went over the meter box. We fixed this at no charge to the customer for their satisfaction. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and any bad experience."
