Matt E.
Jul 2011
Grading and prep work was well done, our lot was smoothed out and leveled.
The sod was installed and tamped down.
The sod delivered was insufficient quantity and of too poor quality to complete the job, so they installed what they had and came back about a week later to finish the job.
We asked them why the grass looked strange and were told it was just thatch and when the grass came out of dormancy it would be "OK".
They also gave us credit for two pallets of sod to account for the unusable grass that was delivered.
About a week later the sod was greening up and they finished the job and replaced some sections of the yard that looked thin. The sod they finished the job with looked completely different than what they installed originally, it looked green and thick.
About a month later it was obvious that the "Thatch" sections were dead or had barely any grass growing in them.
Calling Sodbusters on May 16th, we were told to apply Scotts fertilizer, which we did. A couple of weeks later we called again and asked for a representative to come out and look at the lawn.
On May 25th, a representative came out to see the lawn. He said they would be in touch with us soon, and that there were definitely some thin areas.
A few days later they said they would schedule a time to come out and "Make it right".
Around Mid June, Sodbusters came out and completely re-did the work. Apparently they had trouble with one of their suppliers and apologized for the trouble.
Anyway, the new sod "Empire Zoysia" has been down for a couple of weeks and looks fantastic. We have received several compliments and are thoroughly satisfied.
Sodbusters was truly professional in resolving the issues we had. We would have given them and "A" except for the issues we experienced with the first batch of sod.
