Some things to be aware of when installing a new countertop: You do have to re-connect your sink, dishwasher and disposal, but we were able to do that ourselves. If you can't, be sure to budget the cost of a plumber to do this for you. Eugene also recommended adding corbels to support the breakfast counter since we wanted to make it a bit wider. Again, we were able to install these ourselves, but you may want to ask if it is needed. Finally, we opted for a glass and stone tile backsplash rather than a granite backsplash. This would also be an additional cost to be aware of, depending on what kind of look you want.
If you are looking for a meticulous granite or marble installation, I would highly recommend this contractor. While they are a small company, they delivered everything they said they would. The outcome was gorgeous!
One thing to know is that if you go with Eugene, you will need to have your own plumber to reconnect the faucets and sinks. Expect about $150 per sink. So my total for the 3 counter-tops, sinks, new faucets (I bought these separate) and plumbing was approximately $4500. Granite (installed) was $3600.
