I had the windows up one evening and heard what I thought was a scratching in the attic, so I knew immediately should contact an exterminator! I remembered a coworker's brother owned a pest control company, so I contacted her for the company name. Upon initial contact at Sure Shot, I did not tell them of any association with the owner's brother, but the receptionist/scheduler was as nice as anyone you'd want to meet. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and was very patient explaining how the first, and any future visits would go. A few days later when Curtis, the technician arrived, he also reflected the company's professionalism and attention to quality and service. He arrived just a few minutes before appointment time and used the paper shoes to ensure he didn't track any dirt inside. He was also very kind and friendly with my two small dogs. After a thorough inspection of the attic, Curtis declared it "critter free," but offered to put some bait out just in case. He also looked carefully for other signs of mice-type creatures downstairs and in the basement and found nothing. I declined the bait (although it's part of the standard treatment) and told him I would wait and see if there were any more sounds or signs in the future. Curtis did a great job, carefully treating the house. He placed waterproof pellets outside, which have helped a giant-ant problem I had. He also did a termite inspection (and found nothing, thank goodness!)There's a real "part of the family" feeling when working with this company. It is obvious they have a solid client-base, with many long-term customers, and I can see why. They're not happy until you're happy. Ironically, the day before I had my first conversation with Sure Shot, I was walking my dogs and saw another extermination company's van parked on a small side road, where the tech was writing a report while waiting for his next appointment time. I mentioned the scratching I'd heard, and that I had called another company for an estimate. He gave me his card and suggested I call his company as well. He then went on to explain to me the horribly cruel way his firm handled mice, squirrels and other larger pests. I know extermination is never pleasant, but he seemed to take a particular enjoyment in telling me how their method prevented smells after the creature's death. I didn't need to hear this. I did mention to Sure Shot I'd heard of dreadfully horrible ways some creatures were killed to prevent odor. They tactfully agreed the details weren't necessary, but did say their chemicals didn't work the way the other fellow had mentioned, which I was glad to know.I'm sure there are other fine pest control companies out there, but I think I've found the one I'll be with for quit some time. No one has rushed me, everyone has been very polite, and the bugs are disappearing! What more can you ask?! There are no contracts - just a first time visit charge of $100 to $125 (this may vary with house size, or perhaps if you select a quarterly return plan, I don't remember), and an $85 charge for a quarterly visit. If you plan for them to return quarterly, and have ANY kind of bug or critter problem in the interim, they come back at no charge. Can't beat that!
