Description of Work: I purchased the custom deck plan through Angie's List. It was nothing more than someone coming out and telling me what it would cost, I was actually expecting a drawn up plan. I went with them anyway because the price was average and they had a good rating on Angie's List. The deck was built well overall with a few minor problems, most of which I noticed after payment. There was one section about 6 ft long where the screws stopped. looked like they ran out of screws and just forgot about it. There were close to 40 or more screws, that went through the deck board but missed the joist. The transition from one deck rail to the next was very rough. I believe this was due to the fact that they used the 6x6 deck post as the rail post instead of using 4x4. there was also too large a gap between the rail post so they simply nailed some blocks to the bottom rails halfway between the rail post. There were also some gaps in the brick from where the old rails were removed. They did finally come back and fix this. Then there were the gutters. I asked them for a quote, and then he was supposed to send me a color sample so I could choose my color. Never saw the color sample, and then my wife called me at work and ask me if someone was supposed to be working at the house that day. I came home from work and they were wrapping up installing white gutters on my house. They offered me the white gutters for free, because it was their mistake, or I could get the color of my choice. Of course I kept the free gutters. The was an issue with the back gutter (only two downspouts) but it was one me and Bradley Construction anticipated. I made an appointment for the new 3rd downspout to be put in as well as a repair on one of the other downspouts.About 4 hours after they said they would be there, I called to see what the deal was. He said they could not find the part for the repair that I wanted(a to b downspout elbow)and the reason they weren't here yet was because he wanted to give me the part I wanted(he really tried to put it off on me like it was my fault) He said they had driven over a hundred miles between the two of them looking for the part. I asked if he had looked at Home Depot, he assured me they had. I told them to just forget about it and come over and finish the job. Then I went online, found it at the Home Depot with the aisle and bin #, went and picked it up and got back to my house in under 15 minutes. When the installer finally got here, he had the exact same part that he had purchased from the Home Depot, even though they said they couldn't find the part. The installer was here until after 9pm to install one downspout. They were supposed to be here by 10am that morning, and all this was going on while me and my wife were taking care of our newborn. Talk about stress. Then the next time it rained, the newly installed downspout leaked. I called the installer at the number he left me, and he said he would be out either later that day, or the next morning. He didn't make it that day or the next morning, I finally received a phone call around 9pm telling me he wasn't coming that day, DUH! He said he would come the next morning first thing, but I never heard back from him. Went to Home Depot the next day bought some caulk and repaired it myself. There were also some windows I had installed, before all of the gutter mishap. After ordering my custom windows through them I waited patiently, but no one ever called me to update me on the status of my windows. Finally my wife's doctor said she was going to have to be induced for labor on Sunday, this was on a Wednesday. I called Mr Bradley to check on the status of my ordered windows, and let him know we really needed to move quickly, he said they just came in on today's shipment(what are the odds)They originally told me it would only take a day or two to install. They started Friday, and also worked Saturday but did not finish. We had to go to the hospital Sunday, but left a key with the window installer. We were in the hospital for an entire week, and it took all of it to put the windows in but they told me that they had finished and I would be coming home to my new windows. Came home from the hospital with a newborn to quite possibly the worst window installation ever on the window in my downstairs bathroom. There was a gap between the window and the Jam and the trim looked like a monkey did it. None of the windows were cleaned like I had been told they would be, and the ones on the upstairs were so high I couldn't reach them to clean them if I wanted to. The stickers were also left on the window. There were scratches in the paint from one of the installer's ladder. They did come back to fix the issues, again, this was only days after returning from the hospital with our newborn. NOT A GOOD TIME FOR HAMMERS! All of the defects in the work were spotted by me, not Bradley Construction. If they cared about the work their sub-contractors were doing, they would take 5 minutes to walk through a job after it is finished to make sure everything looked good. Mr Bradley was hard to reach, and believe me, it was not for lack of trying. I went through Bradley Construction because they had a high rating on Angie's List which is very disappointing. I used a contractor for all the work so I wouldn't have to worry about quality control. I feel like I basically did their job for them. I could have just as easily found a deck guy, a gutter guy, and a window guy myself and cut out the middle man.
