Shawn came to give me an estimate within a few hours of being contacted. He pointed out areas on my roof that he thought might need extra attention and made sure that I knew the possibility of the extra cost. My old roof was not visibly leaking, so I didn't need immediate replacement. He gave me an idea of when his roofers would start, and he came over 2 days before they started to let me know and to verify my shingle selection. The installation went very smoothly and I was kept informed of the progress. I am very satisfied with my new roof.
Called Shawn and got a quote. Wasn't the lowest price but was very knowledgeable and was recommended by a friend. He gave me detailed quote to remove the old roof, repair ply wood (up to 3 sheets), 30 lb paper & Lankmark Morrey Black Shingles. He even met me at my work to show me different shingles so I could pick out a color (don't go by the pictures online or in a brochure).
Agreed to start on Thursday. A team of 3 showed up early Thursday but could only work for 1 hour before Shawn called it a day due to high winds (good call). Came back Friday and the team of 3 worked until dark removing my old roof. Saturday & Sunday was fixing issues (had to replace flashing which was detailed in the quote if it had to be replaced) and putting the new shingles on.
Overall the crew was outstanding. They worked all day each day. Was originally told it would take two days but no worries that it took 3+ days with clean up. I would recommend Wando Roofing to anyone. Shawn can be hard to get a hold of sometimes but he and his crew know everything about the roof. Wando Roofing came by on Monday to finish clean up with the magnet for nails. My yard looks better than when they started.

1. Price was advertised as $3750 on Angies list. That is what drew me to this roofing contractor (along with the reviews). But if I wanted this price, I had to purchase this deal through Angies list. I knew that I could get my money back if after Wando roofing came out and inspected the roof, the pricing was different. This price was advertised as for replacing a 1500 sq. roof.
I called Shawn, and he came out to the house. After measuring, he told me that it would cost an extra $2500. My house was approx. 1300 sq. feet on the inside, but the roof extended a lot further. I agreed because it was still less than the other estimates I had gotten, but barely a 10% savings although the ad stated that it was a savings of 37%. I feel the average person would not realize that this deal is only for a 1,000 sq. ft. house on the inside. It would be less deceptive if it was stated as such. That way, the person looking at the ad would know immediately if their house would cost more and be better informed.
2. Shawn told me that he needed to replace some of the plywood underneath and told me how much. I said ok. He then called later and said that he needed to buy more lumber and replace more so I asked him to let me know how much.
He never called and let me know how much the additional would be. Not till the entire job was finished. When I asked him why he had not called to let me know, he became very defensive and replied that he was too busy to be calling every customer to let them know how much it was going to cost them. When I replied that it was my money he was spending and I had a right to know how much extra it was going to be, he accused me of saying that he was trying to cheat me, and that he had a right to charge me for all the work he had done. Further, he had done me a favor by not charging me for all of the ?extras? he had done on the roof. If it had been a couple of hundred, I would have understood not being notified and not said a thing, but it was more than just a couple hundred.
3. I had a hard time reaching him whenever I needed to talk with him about the work or repair.
It was very rare that I could actually call and leave a message. His voice mail was almost always full. So unless he actually answered the phone when I called, I was left to try again and again throughout the day if I needed to get in touch with him. Very frustrating.
4. For the repair work, I asked him to take before and after pictures.
He took some pics, but they did not show me what he had replaced. I saw two pics that showed the same hole on one piece of old plywood, but other than that, I saw no other pictures that showed the bad plywood or the replaced plywood. All I saw were pics of everything already shingled and finished or areas where he had already taken up the bad plywood and there was just empty holes waiting to be repaired. He replaced 26 pieces of plywood.
I think he did a good job. I think he replaced the plywood like he said he did and was honest about the sq. footage on the roof. My complaint is: 1) that because of the deceptive advertising, I did not get any better deal than any of the other roofers that gave me an estimate, but I went with him initially through angies list because I was under the impression that it was a better deal. By the time I was fully aware of all the costs, too much was invested already to change my mind. Had I realized that was not the case, I might not have placed an initial deposit through Angies list. 2) His attitude about the pictures and extra cost of the plywood made me feel as though I didn?t matter. His only concern was getting the job done and getting paid what he thought he should get paid regardless of whether he did as I asked him to do.
someone came out and repaired them the SAME DAY! They even left to get
materials and came back and worked until the evening to complete the
job. They were awesome and we will definitely use them again.
