Inspired Construction

I live in Downtown Charleston. Rob Hanawalt's firm did an excellent job on a piazza rebuild, which is no easy task with a 250 years old structure. Rob studied the situation in great detail and then gave me an estimate and a time frame to start and complete the project. He finished on time and on budget and was on top of the job every day. He and the people that work with him were courteous and very professional.  Rob is experienced...he has seen alot in his building career, and that is one of the most important ting when doing a project. He has the knowledge to deal with historic structures, and he is also an expert in materials...the pros and cons of what to use in what location. I recommend Rob and Inspired Construction with no reservations.

Rob did a great job. He wants to make sure you are happy and makes sure the job is done right.

He was professional, responsive, and thorough. The quality of his work was top-notched. He was clean. He referred me to a painter to come in and paint the furniture units once they were built. He followed-up with that. We have been in contact since about performing work in the future.

I called Rob after reviewing contractors on Angie's List.  He set-up an appointment with me within 2 days.  He arrived on-time and discussed the project with me, recommending wood species and several great design ideas.  Rob also provided some insight into his company's background in millwork,cabinetry and construction which was extensive.  Since Rob was healing from a broken collarbone, he explained that his cabinetmaker, John, would be doing the actual construction and went on to explain John's experience as a millworker  The company's portfolio and recommendations are available upon request.  He provided an estimate and timeline for the project. The project began within the week and was finished in a day and a half.  The built-in is beautiful and fits in seemlessly with the crown molding and details of rest of the room.  It appears as if it was constructed when the home was built.   As Rob mentioned in our initial meeting and estimate, the cabinetry would not be painted.  However, he could recommend finish painters he works with quite often.  I could not be more pleased with the result.  Thank you so much Rob and John for such as great job!

Contractor was very responsive with first phone call and appointment was made within two days of calling. He then email his proposal with a day or two from the appointment. Contractor listen to what work I wanted and the quality I was looking for. Within a week a scheduled appointment was made, in which he was on time and ready to perform work task. Contractor was organized and was coordinated with his assistance. Work was completed in a little more than half a day. Work habits were neat, which made for little clean up. Would definitely call this contractor  back for additional future work.

Responsive to our initial inquiry. Gave us a convenient and prompt date to come over to see what we wanted done. When I described the type of materials he was able to find them at a good price and picked them up himself. He was professional, friendly, very neat. Our home never felt like a "construction site".  Finished on time and within price estimated.

I called Rob on a Tuesday night. He returned my call promptly, was professional, knowledgable and helpful. He made an appointment to come by the following day. He reviewed my plans, made excellent recommendations on improving my plans. Provided me with a written estimate that included materials and supplies as well as labor (carefully breaking out each category). We made the committment to the job and agreed he would start the following Monday. I offered a deposit to cover supplies, etc and he waived that. He arrived on time and went right to work. The job took longer than expected partially because we added additional work and because Rob was meticulous in his craftsmanship - choosing to move a switch rather than having it an awkward height in respect to the new wainscotting. He and his assistant cleaned up meticulously, were a pleasure to be around and left us completely satisfied with his work. I'd contract with him again in a heartbeat.
