DEFENSE ONE TERMITE PEST CNTRL

Defence One team members are honest friendly and professional.We have been using them since they started there company.We have never had any problems in more than 15 years!

We are in the process of selling our home and found out on the home inspection that the air  handler under our home had a clogged drain line.   The clogged drain line caused an overflow of the drain pan into our crawl space which lead to a high moisture content in the crawlspace. 

After unplugging the drain line, we decided to proactively reduce crawlspace moisture content to keep our pending home sale viable (crawlspace moisture is always a concern in the Lowcountry when selling a home in the summer).

We obtained an estimate from a Mount Pleasant moisture control company that specializes in crawlspace moisture control and were told that a complete crawlspace encapsulation was required.  For the service, we were quoted a price of $9200 dollars.

We then obtained a similar quote from our pest control company, Defense One.  For a crawlspace encapsulation that met or exceeded the Mount Pleasant quote, we received a similar or better installation for $5400.  In addition, because we had a termite bond with Defense One, we were given a $500 discount from the $5400 bill.

In two afternoons, Brian and Joe installed an extremely high quality vapor barrier, blocked and insulated the crawlspace vents, replace insulation and installed a crawlspace dehumidifier.  In addition, we received a remote indication of crawlspace moisture content.  Immediately, crawlspace moisture content was reduced.

Our experience with Defense One, from termite bond to crawlspace encapsulation, has been impeccable.  I cannot recommend them more strongly.

UPDATE:

After one and half weeks in service following the crawlspace encapsulation, the dehumidifier has reduced the wood moisture levels from well above 30% to between 8 and 10% in all areas.  These moisture levels were confirmed with a CL-100 inspection.  I could not be more pleased with the service that Defense One has provided.

He is great. He explains everything well, has great prices and shows up when when he says he will. He is absolutely wonderful.

Very prompt to remind and schedule the annual visit.

We have been using Defense One for over 10 years and have never had a problem or had to call them back out to respray. Their always polite and willing to do something extra if you need it.

At first I thought all was well. I was working with Joe and setting up a termite inspection CL 100. Then their guy came out. He took one look underneith and said and quot;I wouldn't take this house if you gave it to me.and quot; Fortunately I got a second opinion because this house turned out to be a diamond in the rough with an amazing view and good bones. He said that we were luck the house was still standing. The funny thing was that only 10% or so of the framing was visible through the insullation. We decided to have the insulation removed for a better look and guess what, everything was fine! We almost walked away from an amazing house after an amature inspection. We decided to go with a more reputable company Palmetto Exterminators. I'll be giving them a much better review. Defnese One is Busch League at best. Would use them again if they were free. Too bad I had to use them at all. The only reason we called them in the first place is because they were a transer termite bond from the house we moved from. Oh yea, and after the inspection was done I called Joe for more info, he said he'd call me back and never did. That's my biggest per peve with contractors. CALL PEOPLE BACK! Even my general contractor couldn't belevie the inspection result or response. Unprofessional and Unsat.

I recently entered into a termite bond with Defense One, and am happy with the service I have received. They did a great job of checking for existing termite damage and reporting any issues they saw. The cost of the service was very reasonable - more than half the price of the competition.

I have a contract with them for a year and they would come out as many times I need them to. They are responsive.

It was all fine. They report everything they see and they seem pretty honest. A few years ago they spotted a pipe drip that I was then able to go and fix.

We have never had any kind of issue with them. They are a little bit hard to get a hold of them. They didn't return calls or emails when we needed them to come out and spray for pests. We didn't have any problems with the person that came out and sprayed though. The prices are pretty competitive.

They do a good thorough job.

We had an agreement with them for 7 years for less than $200 a year. They come out and do a house inspection each year. They would pay for any termite damage but we haven't had any so whatever they have done was done right. We have the same person come out every single time. During his inspections he has found some other damage with our pipes underneath the crawlspace that we were not aware of. Had they been left we would have had more problems so he has caught problems for us. He just let us know what he found and didn't try to say that he knew somebody for the work. We have renewed our contract with them.

They have a service that I thought I needed. Their price was better than the others that we've seen. The guy took his time to explain the program and services. We interviewed 3 other companies and we liked what they had to offer the best. So far we have been pleased. We had a big rat problem before we used them. They have been prompt. They have came on time for their follow ups. They call and come when they say they will. As far as I can say, they have been very reliable. There hasn't been any fiddling around.
