He asked for a significant amount (1/3) to begin the job. At this point I should have become wary. Once the job was started, James and his worker started then worked for about a week. Then, after a disagreement, he failed to show up to finish. I called several times to have him restart the job. He would set the appointment then not show up. Twice he did this over a month and a half. Time is money and he was holding up the job. I finally was able to get him to come back to the house, where he asked for another $1500 to start again. I foolishly paid him. He failed to return to the job in a timely manner, and I hired another electrician, who discovered his work was out of code. Aluminum to copper without the proper caps, improper wire connections, and mis-wired sockets. I had to pay for a complete rewire of the house due to James Gilbert's shoddy work. I had to go to small claims. He talks a big game, but has poor execution. Beware!
