It was because of water damage, which the insurance company covered. They did real good. They do it professionally. It took them about two days to complete the work. They cleaned it good with a vacuum cleaner.

We finished the kitchen project in approximately eight weeks. We are very pleased with the finish. Lowes staff played a big part in helping us with ideas, instructions, and choosing the right products.

Window Service
It has been a pain using Lowes. Their window guy told us that we wouldn't have to cut the existing opening to install the windows. That was good, because we didn't want the existing wood cut. We went ahead with the project, and purchased the windows from Lowes. They ended up having to cut the window openings, and then they took out all the windows at once! We live in the south, and the heat index was 116 degrees, and humid. Our house was hot! We have an old air conditioner, that we had to turn off, so it wouldn't blow up. Not only were my kids home, but I was baby sitting too! After they removed the existing windows, Lowes realized they didn't have a saw! They didn't have a saw, because they were told they wouldn't need to cut anything. Then, they missed a window, and we had to wait another 2 weeks to get that one installed. When they installed that one today, they didn't bring any plastic to prevent the dust. In addition to dust all over the house, one of the jambs is wrong! We have to wait another 2 weeks to have THAT repaired. Plus, we are trying to move! I like the quality of they windows we purchased a lot. Lowes responsiveness sucks! Some of the installers were nice, and some of them weren't. We would not use Lowes again. It's been a nightmare! We have used Lowes before for other projects, including counter tops, and they did a really good job.

I thought their services were good and their installation was professional. Since they are very busy, they didn't come out right away.

Carpet Installation
I was not satisfied. They had done work for me before and they did okay. I don't know if it was that particular carpet, or the installation or both but I was very unhappy and they wouldn't do anything about it. I wouldn't use them again. This was for a condo and I thought commercial carpeting would hold up better but it didn't work out. I don't know who to blame it on. It could have been the carpet manufacturer or the installer. I don't know who was at fault. I also had some problems getting it installed when I needed it done.

This is where the rubber met the road. The cabinet installer made certain recommendations to our sales rep based on his survey, measurements and experience. Unfortunately, some of his recommendations weren't acted upon, and we ended up with two glitches. One required a new cabinet to be ordered which would fit better than what had been ordered originally. The installer was super - we didn't even have to get involved, and he ordered a different cabinet even before talking to us (the fit was really awkward, and the installer knew we wouldn't be happy, so he bit the bullet). Once the new cabinet arrived the installer came back to our home and hung it, then we ran into glitch number two . . .
The cabinets were supposed to go all the way to the ceiling, but there remained about a two inch gap between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. It only took a few calls, and between the installer and Lowe's, more parts were ordered. Once again, when the parts arrived, the installer made a third trip to our house and finished up.
Let me make one point clear - the two issues we ran into are not uncommon problems with renovations, but Lowe's and the installer handled them to our 100% satisfaction. I should add that we paid nothing extra for the replacement cabinet and trim, even though it was additional cost for Lowe's. Also, for an installer to make three trips instead of one is money out of his pocket. Yet neither Lowe's nor the installer ever fussed about this point. The installer was cheerful, pleasant, professional and very detail oriented - just what you need to install cabinets, trust me.
The countertops were installed without issue. My only surprise was how much is involved with installing countertops. I thought it was plop them down, secure them, and you're done. Take my word for it, there's a lot to it, and you don't want to DIY unless you really know what you're doing and have the right equipment.
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Lowe's for kitchen cabinets and countertops.

Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Carpet Installation
Overall our experience with Lowe's carpeting service was good. We started with a trip to Lowe's to schedule an installer who came to our house and took measurements. We were impressed with his thoroughness when he measured, noting how certain rooms would be affected by the size of the carpet (carpet comes in different sizes, unbeknown to us). Cost of the measurements was $35. Once the installer sent his measurements to Lowe's, we could then get an accurate price for carpet based on the carpet and padding we picked . Of course, Lowe's has their $39 installation package, but I had already read the fine print and knew that carpet removal and disposal is extra, moving furniture is extra, and stairs are extra. Personally I think Lowe's $39 price is a come-on, but I'm sure their marketing department thinks it's genius. We went from $39 to install the carpet to $658 with the extras. And by the way, who doesn't want their old carpet removed and disposed of, and can they install carpet without moving furniture? That's why I think Lowe's $39 is a come-on, but that's just my opinion. Once we had our price and gave Lowe's the go ahead, it was only about a week for the carpet to come in and we were able to schedule the installation. The installer was a private contractor, who I assume has his own contract with Lowe's. No problem with that. The installer did a very good job considering the carpet we chose was much thicker and bulkier than the cheap "contractor grade" carpet that was removed. He had difficulty getting the carpet pushed into some tight corners, cutting around banisters, and the stairs. But overall, he did amazingly well. My only suggestion for the installer would be to be more careful with walls and corners. When they carried the rolls of carpet around corners, they allowed the outside of the carpet (which is rough) to rub against the corners of the walls, hence removing the paint. They also put a few dings on the walls. Nothing some touchup paint couldn't fix, but if I hadn't had some paint, I would have been royally upset. While the installers were working, an inspector from Lowe's came by the house and did an inspection. I think that was more for marketing purposes than anything else, since the inspector and the installer were on a first name basis. The inspector found no issues, which wasn't too surprising. To his credit, he didn't try to sell me a bunch of other fine products from Lowe's. In summary, I'd use Lowe's for carpeting again. It was about as painless as it can be, and we're very satisfied.
