It was significantly less. They were very professional. I trained secretaries and administrative assistants and managers for 35 years at the community college. So I am a pretty good judge and the lady was just as professional and nice as she could be and so was the tech when he got here. He didn't badmouth my stuff and tell me it needed all this work done to it. He said everything looked good.

All of the service people are excellent - thorough, considerate and professional.  They check everything and don't try to sell you something you don't need.  I would say that the only thing they need is more service people!  When we called for our servicing that is included under our plan, they were scheduling for 6 weeks later.  And in all fairness, next year I'll have to remember to call them sooner too!

Steve, the tech guy, suggested adding refrigerant to the outside unit as well as replacing the (flux) capacitor.  He said the thermostat wasn't automatically using the heat strips(not sure of the correct terminology ).  He wasn't sure if it was the thermostat. I Asked him to change the thermostat and he gave me a discount on it.  He said he will have to schedule the ductwork to be repaired at another time, which I have no problem with.  It was something unexpected and I was the last appointment on a Friday.

While we wanted the annual service contract on the existing system we were getting quotes to replace the system. While the tech was working on the system in the Spring an owner of the company was measuring the house and gathering data to give me a quote.  When I went to the Heatpump with the next HVAC contractor to come over I noticed that the condensate drain pipe was crushed and had been for months as it had old dirt stain in it and had been dumping the water under the foundation. I called the main office, talked with an "owner" who told me yea we had to fire that service tech as he wasn't doing his job sorry. No offer to actually come back and do the job nothing. The "owner" who had been by to measure did call back with prices but never managed to get me a written quote with exactly what they would do. The other two also highly rated within Angies list HVAC contractors did get me written quotes and I will be switching to one of them this spring. As this is a cottage we decided to wait until the unit dies to replace it.

SANDPIPER HEATING & AIR LLC are very professional. Whenever we call they are there. They are a good company to work with. Their service contract prices are reasonable.

The company came within the hour.  I had to leave for a while, but when I returned, the mechanic told me that he needed to refill the compressor with freon which required the installation of a new dryer.  Parts and labor came to about $600.  Later that week, the hvac still was not keeping the place cool.  I observed that the fan was not coming on when the compressor came on.  This caused the inside unit to freeze up.  I personally replaced the control switch for the fan motor inside the air handler, and everything has been working just fine for the past three years.  I cannot trust the company anymore, so changed to an Angie's List rated company.
