Orkin Pest Control

We had termite damage and infestation and had the following experience with Orrin of myrtle beach 843-903-0904, first: they are over priced. Second: the salesman misled us, third,that had to return 6 weeks later to re-treat, fourth: after about a year we got a renewal contract bill. It stated that failure to pay would exclude the original contract. When we called, we were told, if we didn't want to renew, just ignore the bill. A month later we received a phone call saying that they would ruin our credit and get a collection agency to come after us, unless we wrote a letter canceling said contract! Upon their ultimatum,we wrote the letter. And can only hope we will receive no more threats. AVOID ORKIN!! They are thieves and very Un-professional!

First the inspector Todd arrived early did a thorough examination of the house asked us were we thought we saw activity, he double checked those areas, went up into the attic, and did a full check up there as well. He then sat down with us, and showed us photos of the different types of termites, he determined that we did have an infestation, he then explained which type we had, and the options we had in treatment. The one he commented was the least expensive. And said he was going to have our home set up for the first of the week. He also promised a morning appointment, the treatment came with a one year renewable contract. Monday morning he called to tell us that they would be here between 11 and 1, they arrive bed 10:45. Todd arrived with the technician ,Charlie, who was going to do the treatment. Together ,they went trough the house again to be sure of the plan. Which included drilling holes every foot, inside and out, injecting the insecticide foam every 3feet. Also where there was garden the dug a small trench to enable full coverage. Wherever he drilled, he filled with with a rubber plug, and the concrete over that. Where he dug the trench, he back filled carefully with a shovel and broom. Leaving the property as he found it. They do not repair the termite damage already done( that up to the client). However, if we see any addition bugs of any type, they will continue me out, no extra charge, and re-treat. And repair any new da,age( according to contract. The entire project took just under 5 hours. We had to move furniture where the infestations were! Charlie was wonderful, Todd was very explicate with what was going to happen. We are still awaiting the follow-up by the manager to triple check the work. I would like to add the phone number on Angie's list is correct, however the they moved to 161 dividend loop, myrtle beach, they are closer to the airport. And they have a new manager. I have had Orkin treat my property since shortly after moving to the area in 2013. They have been very easy to work with. The few times that I have spotted bugs, they have been to my home on the same day to treat the problem. My usual bug guy, Joe, has been both pleasant and focussed while working in and around my house. The contract price for services has been well worth the money.

If I still see any by next week I will have them come back and do more treating in the main infested area. Compared to the others I looked into Orkin guarantees both the ground and new flying termites which the others didn't - they also treated just about everywhere I can think of but I am not an expert. As far as I am concerned I picked the right company. One thing though I had to sign the final contract that mentioned I had decorative wood chips around my home (decorative) that may or may not nullify the guarantee (I sure hope not cause just about everyone has wood chips or pine straw around their homes!) - FYI, they were the most expensive but I felt the guarantee was the tipping point in Orkin's favor - along with them treating ALL areas I can think of and areas I would have never even considered.

The house inspector was thorough, professional, polite and knowledgable. He was prompted and overall an A. He explained that everything was ok and made a recommendation without any sales pressure. He can be trusted.
However, the person that actually did the extermination was least desirable. This is why I give them a B.. He is not the usuall employee. He is just called when they are overwhelmed. I understand our house is a lot of furniture and appliances in the way of where he had to drill and he had to get help to move stuff and as for the drilling and patching in the garage he did a good job. The problem was he tried to leave without putting things back. He told my mother that he thought "I thought the young guy would do it" I like the compliment but being 50 is not young. Furthermore i wasn't the one getting $1800. So I give the worker a C.
