Very well. Steve knows his stuff. My piano is in pretty good shape. Steve indicated a few things that could be better but in general was complimentary of the. In the past I have had tuners suggest problems that needed repair (by them, of course). That did not happen here. Despite my piano being at least 70 years old Steve indicated it is a good instrument. He did the tuning and charged $150- which is an appropriate price for a baby grand. I believe he took more time than my prior tuner. Certainly worked carefully. He CARES about pianos. I plan to hire him again. I had an Angie's list coupon for 5% off, which would have been $142.50. I was very satisfied and paid Steve $145. Bottom line: very good tuner, fair, honest, thorough.

I had an old piano that was given to me that needed tuning badly. I left a phone message and I believe a web message and he was pretty prompt about responding. Initially, we had made an appointment for a couple of weeks in the future, but when he realized he would be in my neighborhood the next day, we moved up the appointment. He is an excellent piano tuner, he spent a good deal of time talking to me and honestly assessing the condition of the piano. He was honest about the fact that the piano may never get to perfect pitch. He did a great job and I plan to rehire and recommend

It went great. The piano sounds worth what we paid for it now and my girls are very pleased. Stephen is very responsive, knowledgeable and professional. He made the whole experience pleasurable and a learning moment as well.

We were extremely pleased with the service.
Mr. Segarra, the business owner and piano tuner, was exceptionally responsive.  We wanted our piano tuned for the holiday and he made time in his schedule on just a day notice from us.
He arrived right on time, and was pleasant and professional to interact with.
Mr. Segarra was clearly very knowledgeable, pointing out the unique, older aspects of our equipment and its tuning needs.
We asked Mr. Segarra to proceed with tuning the day he came and have already scheduled an appointment for maintenance tuning. His pricing was reasonable and quality of work excellent.
We highly recommend his vendor!

It is very clear that he has a passion for his job and takes great care in providing outstanding service. He has taken a very old piano that was extremely out of tune and taken his time with it (not one string was broken). He took the time to understand our needs for the piano and do do what was best for our situation. His follow up is fantastic and he is great to work with.

I have two pianos, both on the elderly side;  a Steinway professional upright built in 1977 or so, and a Steinway L built in about 1950.  I am getting on in years myself, and have watched and listened to tuners in my home since I was a baby.  The L has been my piano since I was about 10 years old;  the upright for the past 37 years.  I am so delighted with Steven's services to both pianos, his breadth of knowledge about the instruments and their needs, his positive recommendations, which did not include major (and in my own estimation, presently unnecessary) repairs, and his obvious and complete involvement in his work. Now to work on that Brahms Intermezzo I have had in my ear all spring! In the service of full disclosure, I have to say that Steven was as enthusiastic about my L as I am -- this was my father's pride and very well played joy, and it was such a pleasure to have a fellow enthusiast admire it with me.  As regards cost, I would have to say that tuning is more expensive now than it was in 1964, but that Steve's prices are very fair -- and, that you get what you pay for.

Stephen is so knowledgable and skilled. He thoroughly explained the steps in getting and keeping a piano in tune, started the process in our first visit, and followed up promptly for the next fine tuning.  We, and our piano, are so happy with his service!

Stephen did fantastic work.  Very responsive via email and phone as the date approached.  Showed up right on time and performed all work in the time proposed.  The piano sounds great ... long over due.  Stephen's piano playing is special.  A delight to hear.

Stephen was running late as he was running late because he was tuning in the city. He did keep us informed about the fact that he will be late though. He is a perfectionist when it comes to the sound and health of the piano, and gave us good advice on the placement of the piano, repair etc. We would definitely have Stephen come back after 3 months to tune our piano again.

Stephen is very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous.  He explained everything that he needed to do to the piano to 'balance' its sound.  He also recommended having to do another tuning to fine tune and maximize the piano's performance.  He knows what he's doing and the result of his work attests to that.  He takes his time to answer every question and does his work with care.
I would highly recommend to anyone needing their piano tuned to give Stephen a call and schedule an appointment.  He's a pleasure to deal with and a very nice guy.  To top it off, he's an excellent pianist too!
Thanks Stephen.

The tuning went extremely well. He was professional, honest and put in a great deal of time tuning a piano that hadn't been tuned in many years. It had also been moved from San Francisco to New York and then was placed in storage. He suggested that the piano should be tuned again in a week or two as the strings couldn't be changed as much as needed in one tuning. We agreed and were thrilled with the results. Our musician children visited several weeks later and were impressed with piano. He also gave us a wonderful "recital" to demonstrate the improved sound.

Stephen is courteous, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and creative. He told us exactly what he will be doing, and provided an overview of what he could accomplish in turning our 70 year old upright spinet. He took great care to be as gentle as possible, so none of the strings would break, and they did not! He took his time, and it was apparent that he cared very much, about the piano's own integrity, physical condition, and the enjoyment that it brings to our family. Stephen was informative and instructive, which contributed to us having a strong sense of confidence in his expertise. He discussed with us, the different types and techniques, of various remedies in tuning an older piano correctly, and he also discussed the cost estimates as well.  Stephen is himself an accomplished pianist, and teacher, which yo us, enhanced the service that he provided. He did a great job and shared with us, a reasonable plan, to keep our piano sounding at its best.

Stephen was a gem all around. He was courteous and listened well during my initial phone interview with him as I explained how long it's been since I last got the piano tuned. Never did he shame me or try to intimidate me like I've had the experience of other piano tuners do about this negligence.
His prices compared to some other professional tuners were reasonable if not under what his competitors were quoting me based on the age and the type of tuning required to get my piano sounding normal again. But his ability to get my beat up Kimball upright to sound respectable  was nothing short of genius!
I'm so happy to have finally found someone I can trust to keep my piano in shape--not to mention someone who can offer a wealth of insight and knowledge into the fascinating aspect of this instrument. I never thought I'd say this about a piano tuner, but talking to Stephen helped me to appreciate my piano again. In fact, I was so inspired by our interaction and by how good our piano was sounding that I actually stole an hour from my busy mommy chore day to play pieces I hadn't "had the time to" in years!

I contacted Stephen regarding a piano my parents gave me that had not been tuned in at least 15 years. Stephen was easy to schedule an appointment with and was responsive to my messages. He came over and looked over my piano and gave me an assessment of its condition. He tuned the piano and offered suggestions of repairs I could make to the piano, but was conscious of the cost and didn't press me to do any of the work. Since I am a new piano owner he also talked to me about a tuning schedule, etc. Stephen is personable and professional and I will certainly have him back for the repairs as well as future tunings.

He was great and he helped us to get an old piano and he repaired it and got it going. This guy, Steven, brought it back.I called him and he was very nice and came over and start playing and showed me some keys that are right and not right and gave an estimate and I said okay and he fixed it and started playing with it and it was beautiful. He's a very nice man and skilled.
