Equipment Rental

No issues with delivery of the fill.  It was prompt, and placed exactly where I requested. 
There were no issues with the stump grinder.  We rented the small grinder, and it did the job.
The plate compactors were another story.  The first compactor smoked horribly. We kept it for two days, and mentioned the smoking to the staff on the second day when we rented the grinder. We were told that there was no problem.  Finally, the compactor just stopped working. It turned out to be a ring failure in the motor. ComeBack replaced it quickly enough (about one hour), with no p/u or delivery charge.  The second compactor worked fine.  At the end of the job, we rented a third compactor.  Compactors are noisy pieces of equipment, but this one "screamed" and vibrated more than it should.  The metal surrounding the motor became quite hot, and two bolts fell out of the machine.  We stopped using it because we didn't want to cause any damage to persons or property. This was New Years Day, so we simply finished the project with a hand tamper.
The staff at ComeBack is pleasant.  They did tell us we should have called the number on the sales slip, and someone would have come out to replace it, even on New Year's Day. Really, we wished we knew this. The job might have finished better. The info on the sales slip gives a phone number, hours of operation, but no mention of what to do during an off hours emergency, or an emergency number.  However, we were credited in full for the 3rd compactor. For our job, time was of the essence, and the problems we had did not help. We would use this company again in a less time-sensitive situation, but ComeBack should test their tools better, too.
