Myrtle Beach Tile LLC
About us
My name is Jim Schmidt, but everyone knows me as “Smitty”. Over the past two decades, I have built a reputation for providing beautiful products and craftsmanship on a grand scale in both new and old homes and businesses. Many homeowners along the Grand Strand are enjoying living in homes that showcase the exquisite materials and expert craftsmanship offered by Myrtle Beach Tile, LLC. I have also been involved with numerous builders on the Grand Strand, both in new construction and remodeling. Many high-rise hotels and condos also showcase my work. Providing the best materials, along with the proper technique to ensure a long lasting, quality installation has been my goal since inception. I do my best to research new products and trends the ever-changing industry has to offer. From sub floors and cement board to anti-fracture membrane and setting materials, I will always work to provide the most cost effective job that can be offered to achieve the customer’s goal. Our specialty is taking an old fiberglass tub or shower, removing it, and installing a “new” beautiful tile or stone shower (usually done in three days). I work closely with the homeowner to come up with a plan and a design, complete with “niches”, shelves, accent strips, deco and layouts that provide that “look” the customer is wanting to achieve. Please feel free to contact me for any of your tile or stone questions or for a free estimate. I can be reached at (843) 458-1634 or at my email address: [email protected]

We decided to update our two 20 year old bathtubs to tiled showers. The contractor chosen was a disaster. After much time and wasted $$$ we were in need of help. We found it in Myrtle Beach Tile LLC. Smitty came in with calm confidence and rescued our renovation.
With the coordination of a find tuned machine, Smitty and his crew proceeded to undo the mistakes that could have been very costly if they had not been professionally addressed.
Our showers are now perfect..We are very grateful to have found them. Do yourself a favor and call them first!
They first had to put down durock board for good adhesion; secondly, they needed to put down several layers of floor leveler to reduce the pitch of the floor. then they installed porcelain tile to finish the job.
We discovered one cracked tile in our ceramic-tiled floor several months ago and let it go, waiting to see if other tiles would crack over time. There were also several areas of grout that were cracked and coming loose. About a month ago (July 2013), we noticed two additional tiles had cracked and many other grouted areas were also cracking. We needed to address the problem.
Schmidy came out to evaluate the situation and was able to give us a quick resolution, a temporary fix for now. He would redo the grout and put in a temporary patch on the cracked tiles. He suggested we wait one more winter before replacing the cracked tiles as other cracks may develop in the surrounding tiles once the heat is turned on for the season. Schmidy rounded up the supplies he needed and did the work as we discussed above. The fix is absolutely perfect - the cracked tile is more stable, the crack nearly invisible - I have to strain to see it - to a person not knowing the tile is cracked, they would not easily find it. Great Job!!!
The grout repair returned the cracked grout to a perfect condition - the grout matched exactly to the existing grout - I cannot tell the grout was previously cracked!
To my surprise and shock, he did not ask for payment for the work he did instead suggested we wait until he replaces the tiles in the spring! WOW.... he wouldn't take a dime.
I was impressed at the speed he worked, in and out in a flash to include cleaning up his work area! The repair is seamless! I will be telling my friends and neighbors about his work not because he didn't charge for the temporary fix but because of his professionalism and willingness to work with us. He is a good man!
Smity was contracted by the general contractor to fix the work ironically. He called me directly and was clear his concern was correcting the work and my satisfaction.
The title work was complicated both for shower and floor with deco striping . Smity did an excellent job assessing what could be used of previous work and what needed to be redone. Ultimately he did an exceptional job laying the tile in the shower and floor. He offered excellent expertise on a better pattern to lay the tile as well as laid the deco and tiles beautifully.
Smitty was excellent and I would recommend him to anyone. He made it clear my his loyality was to me as the customer not to the general contractor.
Anyone who needs tile work should use Smity!
In addition, we also had the entire interior painted and the painters arrived each day and Smitty's men and the painters
coordinated their efforts so all the work was completed as promised. We would hire Smitty for any future tile installation we might consider and would recommend him and his company unconditionally!
