From the start of the experience with Sure Load Moving I felt things went off to a good start. Out of the five moving companies I had lined up to come by for an estimate, they was the 1 of 4 that showed up for the estimate. Out of those 4 companies, Sure Load Moving was the only company that was earlier then the scheduled meeting time.
Daniel the gentleman that walked through the home with us, was completely immersed in the details of our move and we did not feel brushed off like we we did with the other companies.
Out of those 4 companies, 3 sent us an estimate, again Sure Load Moving beat them to the punch. Ralph with Customer Service was great in getting all the details communicated between all parties and to the movers on move day. Sure Load Moving was about $200 higher than our highest bid, but I went with my gut and glad I did.
Our move was fairly small and when the movers arrived they went to work putting blankets over everything we owned. I thought it would take longer than it did to get the boxes and furniture all loaded in the truck, but the 3 Movers (Mike was the lead s name?), knocked it out with care and precision.
That Thursday (they picked up Tuesday), that arrived at our new place. This was a little more tricky, parking was on a bad one-way street and one mover had to stay with the truck while the other 2 unloaded. as expected this part of the move took longer, mostly because of the walk and stairs and people running, biking and skateboarding up and down the sidewalk.
When it was all unloaded, the guys went to work putting things together, asking us where certain items should go, etc. After about 5 hours total, they was sweeping and folding blankets getting ready for the trip back home.
I would definitely recommend Sure Load Moving. And am confident you will enjoy the experience as much as I did.
times in ten years ? with this being number 5 ? and without question this was
the best move we've had. In the past we have used one of the large companies
that put you on a big rig, and then give you a 5 to 10 day waiting period
because they are picking up and dropping off other clients as the truck moves
across the country. Sure Load Moving is one of the few companies that will move
ONLY you in their truck if you wish. (If your move won't take an entire 26 ft
truck they can arrange the big rig type move as well.) We had enough to fill ¾
of the truck so we went with this option, and are so glad we did as the cost
turned out to be the same.
The crew was great and handled are things with great care, and when it came time to drive they
actually arrived 3 hours early for the delivery window. This was the very first
time my family didn't have to stay in a hotel for 4 or five days, or sleep on a
blow up mattress in the new home waiting by the phone to be told when the truck
was going to arrive. We arrived at our new home after a two day drive and the
truck was there waiting for us. Additionally, in past moves one or two boxes
have been missing, or we've ended up with someone else's item. As our items
were the only ones in the truck we did not have to worry about this in any way.
In short I would highly recommend Sure Load Moving for any move you have, but
if you have a 3 bd home or in that range and you're moving out of state ? do
yourself and favor and call them. Ask for Chris as your driver and lead guy as
well.
I've moved twice in the past each with a different company and each a horrific experience.I work a lot so I need full services, packing of all the items, I need the items to be taken apart and put back together. I began shopping for prices and each price got higher and higher each time I needed "additional services". The pricing seemed complicated and varied allot between the different Movers I called.
When I contacted by Sure Load Moving we got straight to the point - I didn't feel like I was trying to be won over as the other sales reps had intended. He helped me make sure all of the items I'd be moving were included and even offered a free in home estimate which I refused, since I know the items I'd be moving. I then explained in detail all of the services I'd need to my surprise taking the items apart, putting them back together and wrapping all of my furniture was included in the price!
Moreover I think the charge for the packing of 10 boxes was fair. When the movers arrived they were courteous, clean and seemed trust worthy. They made sure no items were left behind and that the apartment was clean before we left - which I really appreciated. When we arrived to my new apartment runners?(I believe it was called) was placed on my hardwood new floors and I am proud to say there were no damages to either my floor or my items. They were even so kind to help me place my furniture where I wanted.
I will defiantly be using Sure Load Moving again.
They seemed almost paranoid they was so particular in making sure our 2 flat screen televisions were handled properly.
I did think the price was a little high to move from Savannah to Charleston, but when I started to talking to some folks at my new job, I heard about horror stories of companies just giving you a low price to get their foot in the door.
Sure Load Moving is the real deal. You can trust these guys to do the job right and they really seem to care about what they do. Think of all the stress typically associated with moving day. Packing and unpacking boxes is crappy enough, right? Give them a call and set up an appointment. You deserve to leave it to the professionals and arrive at your new home injury free with all your stuff in one piece.
The Sure Load office folks were very courteous and efficient.
I will also say that the overall Penske experience was excellent. The returning office in Marysville WA were equally courteous and efficient. Other than the very long drive (3150 miles) the truck performed without any problems.
My wife and I boxed up everything - we only had to large items that were not boxed, a bed and an entertainment center. The movers showed up on time and introduced themselves very politely. I showed them what they would be moving and they got started right away. They put a blanket on the door to avoid scratching it and wiped their feet as needed when they came in - they were backed up in our driveway. Everything was loaded quickly and we headed off to the storage unit.
They followed me and as soon as we arrived, after I showed them where everything went, they started unloading. They were very careful with everything and did not waste any time. They were so nice I gave them a nice tip when we were done. I signed off on the paperwork and got a receipt for the job.
When we arrived to the new house, they opened the truck and I saw that the side boards of the master bedroom suite were banged up. They were not padded or wrapped. They weren't even secured in the back of the truck! When we were in the kitchen of the new house, the movers tilted the master bedroom Armoire and set it on its corner directly on the hardwood floors. This resulted in two good sized chucks out of the wood flooring and damage to the master bedroom Armoire. I had to get cardboard to put underneath it. On the way up the stairs they broke a piece of molding, scratched the walls and made two indentations on the wooden stairs. Once again from not putting anything underneath it and setting it directly on the oak lip of the stairs. At one point I heard loud banging and I went upstairs only to find the movers literally rolling the top section of the Master Bedroom Armoire down the hall and into the master bedroom. The noise was the shelving inside the Armoire being tossed around. Literally, Top to Side to Bottom to Side, etc. I frantically asked what they were doing. They said it was the only way they could get it through the doorway.
By the time it was over, we had a destroyed armoire, damaged master bedroom sideboards, damaged master bedroom armoire, gouges missing from hardwood floors of new house, damage to stairs, walls, molding and scratched up Bamboo floors in the
rental house which resulted in losing $400 of the rental deposit. The movers took the severely damaged armoire with them to have it repaired. The damages were noted on the paperwork by the Sure Load Movers moving crew leader before they left the move. He called his employer Jeremy Goding and also texted him pictures of the damages.
A few days later, the owner of the moving company (Jeremy Goding) came to the new house to view the damage a retrieve the two broken legs from the armoire. He viewed the damage to the hardwood flooring, master bedroom sideboards, master bedroom armoire, walls and stairs. He said one if the movers had been fired. He also said he would refund the cost of the move and have his friend that specializes in hardwood flooring come to give an estimate and game plan on fixing floors and give us a furniture
correcting pen/crayon to touch up knicks on master bedroom suite.
On 12/1/10, I received an email from Jeremy stating that the refund check for the move ($780) would be mailed on Friday and the armoire should go for repair on Thursday.
on 2/16/11, I received email from Jeremy that he had lost the letter from Furniture Medic concerning fixing my armoire but attached a letter from Carpenters Repair stating they were unable to fix it. Jeremy gave me two options to address the destroyed armoire: I could find someone to fix it and they would cover cost or they would pay to replace it. To date, I have called, left messages, texted, emailed and mailed a certified letter to Jeremy Goding with Sure Load Movers and have been ignored.
I would like for Sure Load Moving Company to follow through and make this right. I've been more than understanding but this
is flat out wrong. This has dragged on for almost two years! I'm being completely ignored and without a doubt I've been fully taken advantage of! 1) I would like to be reimbursed what I paid for the armoire. I emailed and mailed a copy of the invoice for the armoire. The invoice total was $1,468.25. (Sure Load Movers agreed to fix or replace the destroyed armoire but never followed through) 2) I'd like the cost covered to repair the damage done to the hardwood floors. Sure Load Movers agreed to fix this back 2010 but never did. 3) I would like the $400 worth of rental deposit I lost due to the scratched up Bamboo flooring. 4) I would like an apology for the complete disregard I've received from Sure Load Moving Company owner Jeremy Goding. I have spent an enormous amount of time and effort trying to get this resolved. Please note: I have before and after pictures of the armoire, pictures of the damage done to the bamboo floors, hardwood flooring, pictures of my furniture in the bed of SureLoad Movers Truck, Emails, saved text messages, logged calls, eyewitnesses, copies of mailed letters which includes a certified letter, etc. I WILL NOT LET THIS GO!
The first red flag was when we called them a few days ahead of time to confirm that everything was set for them to show up on the next Monday. It was during that conversation when we realized that they had only scheduled their crew to ?move? and not ?pack?. Ok no problem. It was straightened out and accidents happen so we understood.
When Monday arrived we waited until after 10 am (when they were supposed to arrive). We called to see where they were and what was going on. That?s when someone from their office told us that they didn?t have us scheduled until Tuesday. Tuesday?
But we confirmed on Friday that they would show up on Monday, right? Needless to say we were not happy especially since this was very much a time-sensitive process for us. We insisted that they send a crew over that day since that?s what we were promised and we really didn?t have much flexibility as far as our schedule was concerned. They admitted that the mistake was on their end and that they?d have a crew at our location by 1pm. We were annoyed, but we appreciated them trying to make things right.
Around 2pm I called to ask where they were since they hadn?t shown up yet. I was told that they didn?t have a crew available in Columbia and would be sending one from Charleston. They said that they would show up around 4pm instead of 1pm. Keep in mind that I had to call THEM to get this information, they didn?t bother call and let me know.
The crew finally showed up around 4:30pm. It was a very long process and they didn?t finish until after 11pm. I?m not entirely sure why it took so long since my family and I made sure that the apartment was organized, many things were pre-packed and having had a lot of experience moving ourselves, we knew how to make things go faster on our end. Also not everything was being moved as we kept a portion of furniture behind to give away and sell. In any case, 6 ½ hours seemed too long.
I also found it very frustrating that two of the guys had to be told several times by myself and the guy that seemed to be in charge, to more careful when packing. They weren?t using paper/stuffing around a lot of the fragile pieces. Instead they were simply piling things inside of boxes with nothing to protect them, as if they?ve never packed before. This inability or refusal to pack correctly would later cost us dearly.
At one point I also found a shelf still mounted on the wall, they couldn?t remove because the screw was stripped. The problem was that they didn?t tell me about it. They didn?t even discuss it, it was left behind in one of the bedrooms that they said they already cleared until I pointed it out. I feel as if they were going to just leave the shelf there hoping that I wouldn?t notice. I ended up having to go home to retrieve my own tools to remove the shelf for them. In fact, they didn?t bring ANY tools with them. I had to make another trip home to get more tools when they were unable to take apart the bed and a chest of drawers with a mirror mount.
Besides tools??..they also ran out of boxes. BOXES!!! A moving company that doesn?t have enough boxes!!?? A moving company that was supposed to pack up a 3 bedroom apartment, (which was already pretty much pre-packed and therefore didn?t need that many boxes)?..did not bring enough boxes. Anyhow, I ended up having to go home again (3rd trip) to bring boxes that I bought myself a couple of weeks earlier. I ended up having to give THEM boxes, which I find a little ridiculous.
Later on, towards the end of the night, one of them told me that they might not be able to fit everything on the truck. I couldn?t
believe it! I was obviously angry since they agreed to pack everything, we were paying for it and once again??.how did
they run out of room when we told them ahead of time that it was a 3 bedroom apartment? Once again not everything was
going either! I brought this up with the guy in charge as I was very much annoyed and angry at this point, but he reassured me that they would pack everything I wanted them to pack. What if we actually had a full 3 bedroom apartment for them to pack? Would we have just been out of luck? Anyhow, eventually and thankfully that night ended??but things got worse on the other end.
The crew and my Grandmom?s possessions were supposed to show up on a Wednesday morning around 10am. We called to
confirm this and we were reassured that they would be there. That Wednesday when they didn?t show up on time (of course :{) we called to ask what was going on. The main office then told us something almost laughable. They didn?t know where the
truck was located! Even worse, they couldn?t get in touch with the driver of the truck. (Before the driver left, I made sure to write
down 3 different cell phone numbers, mine, my mom?s and my sister?s on his paperwork to make sure that they had multiple ways to get in touch with us) Well, we got another call following up a few hours later once the main office finally got in touch with the crew. They told us that the crew had been calling us all day. Evidently, the day before there had been a lot of rain. There was
a leak in the truck, so they had to offload everything, fix the truck and reload it. This set them back a day. Whomever we talked to earlier at their main office didn?t know about this setback for some reason. Oh and the number the crew was trying to call
us at was our home phone back in South Carolina. They didn?t bother to call ANY one of the three cell phone numbers I wrote on the driver?s paperwork. I have no idea why as I never got an explanation to this.
Yes the nightmare continued??
The crew promised to be there early the next morning around 8am. Of course they didn?t show up until sometime in the afternoon. Yet again they were not equipped with a Dolly or tools. So they had to hand carry everything which took much longer.
Upon opening the boxes we found SEVERAL broken items. Some of which included rare pieces from 1800?s that were not packed properly (as discussed earlier), despite me having told the packers to please be careful. The guys packing the boxes stacked decorative plates on top of each other without paper in between every time I wasn?t around to watch them it seems. Fragile pieces were not wrapped with paper or bubble wrap at all in some cases. These were rare and meaningful items to my
Grandmother. I can understand some damage, but the amount of things that were broken during this move was certainly more than normal. It?s hard to tell what was broken during which part of the trip, but it didn?t matter. The fact that so many things were broken obviously was a testament to just how much these guys didn?t care at all whether or not my 92 year old grandmother receive her items intact or not. Possessions that are especially important to a 92 year old woman who has to pick up and move her entire life.
At the end of it all, when speaking very directly to what I presume to be the managers at th
careful, polite, helpful and skilled. Total time was as quoted and they worked tirelessly, no fooling around
or loafing. Very pleased with the team and experience.
Antwan and his crew were very conscientious and professional from the time they called to confirm their arrival time until the job was completed. They arrived promptly and went right to work. They were really good at organizing the contents of the unit to maximize our storage space and were very accommodating to me when I requested that certain items be placed in the front of the unit for easy access. They were very careful with the fragile pieces and the furniture. They were also very fast! They had the entire truck unloaded in less than 1 1/2 hours.
We were very happy with the service and will definitely hire Sure Load to unload our storage unit and move the contents into our new home when it is completed.
The moving crew paid attention to detail taking time to be sure all furniture was wrapped and blanketed for protection against damage. The crew worked quickly but not carelessly or without attention to their surroundings.
The crew asked where items should be placed and reassembled the furniture as needed.
The crew was polite and respectful of our belongings. They seemed to care about belongings and that we were satisfied with the move.
We would defiantly use or recommend Sure Load in the future.
The guy I spoke with on the phone, told me to walk through the house and go through all the furniture and tell them how many boxes I had.
The guys who came to do the actual move were pleasant.
I don't think I would use them again. There were digs on quite a bit of the furniture.
