You go in the store - tell them what you need to do - and they have an entire staff that will tell you exactly what you need - what to avoid - and a whole bunch of invaluable advice. And if you don't need anything expensive - they'll tell you. They'll tell you if you better measure something before you buy - which will not happen at Lowe's Home Depot, Walmart, Target, or any other big box. They are a true hardware store - and the staff is hired because they know how to use every screw, nail, threader, spreader, sawzall, or (what rhyms with Sawzall - don't matter - they can tell you how to work it.
