They did a perfect job. They were here doing work when we were not here. They were prefect.

The previous owners of our home had had a media center on one side of the fireplace, and a cabinet with shelving on the other. We wanted both sides to match. Jon Hilgenberg was recommended to us by someone who we trust, and who had worked with him in the past. He came the day after we called him to give us an estimate. He measured carefully, made detailed drawings, and took photographs. Several days later he provided us with a clear and detailed estimate. The project involved some tricky molding work as well as a careful matching of materials and paint, but he fully specified the job in the estimate. Once we accepted the estimate, Jon began the process of buying materials and scheduling the job.
As it worked out, the first opportunity Jon had to perform the work was when we were out of town on vacation. We entrusted Jon with the key to our home before we left. Part way through our vacation, he sent us an Email to let us know that he had finished the work. I replied to let him know we wouldn't be home for another week, but that we were excited about seeing the completed project. HERE IS ONE OF THE WAYS Jon went above and beyond on this project: He sent us photos of the finished work so that we could see how it looked before we got home!
When we got home, we found that the work had been completed very skillfully and that the new cabinet with shelving matched the existing one EXACTLY, including the tricky bits. Also, Jon had left the work area cleaner than it was when we left, which is another example of going above and beyond.
In short, Jon is a very highly skilled artisan who keeps his promises and then some. He is the first person I am going to call for any cabinet or carpentry work in the future.
