+ -1 moreThis was the first time I had used East Cooper Auto Pros, and I wish I had discovered them earlier. From start to finish, my experience was first rate. Bob behind the counter actually listened to me as I described my car's issues, and he even took the time to read some detailed notes I had typed up in case I forgot anything. When I brought up the possibility that my issues might stem from a faulty computer/ECU, Bob recommended that if that proved to be the source of my problems I should simply order a new ECU online to avoid expensive diagnosis costs. It turned out I needed a starter. Bob told me my two-year-old battery tested poorly on cranking power, but instead of replacing it he gave me the choice of doing it myself because it was still under warranty. My starter was replaced quickly, and my car was ready for pickup much earlier than I had anticipated. Bottom line: East Cooper Auto Pros were friendly, fast, professional -- and they actually made me feel like they were looking out for my wallet. My car, which I believe had a loose/bad wire connection at the starter as well as a faulty starter, is starting and running about as well as it ever has. Thank you East Cooper Auto Pros! I'll be back!

They also detected a leaking seal in my A/C......and gave me a price for it. Reasonable. Excellent service. I'll be taking both my cars to them in the future.
Description of Work: Rear window dropped down in slot. They replaced the regulator assembly. Also...the serpentine belt and oil change.

They let me know well in advance of any anticipated work that may be needed and what the cost will be. This is all normal maintenance type work. They are very reasonable and I couldn't be happier with the service.

+ -1 moreI initially brought it in for a an problem starting. When I tested the alternator I thought I found the problem and I asked them to replace it. They don't work like that! They checked out the electrical system and it wasn't the alternator. They cleaned and reattached the battery cables, now it starts like a champ! They charged for the test, but they did the cleaning as a courtesy without charge. There was another electrical problem. When the Jeep was switched off and the headlight switch was left on Auto, every now and then the headlights would come on for a few minutes and then shut off. Bob called me and ran down my options and his confidence in them. In the end I decided that I can turn the lights on and off myself rather spend up to $700. I asked them to check the AC and they found that it needed a recharge and some valves. They also did a dye test and I will go back in a week to see if there is a leak.. However, I now get an arctic breeze out of the AC! I told them that the steering and stability felt mushy going around corners. They put it up on the lift and found that the sway bar had rusted off. Yeah, I bet that happened a while ago because the steering and stability has been off for a while. They fixed it and now the Jeep corners like a Corvette again. The headlights were dim after 13 years and I asked what could be done. Bob suggested a process that cleans and restores the lenses. Now they are bright again. I either had a leak or left a window or the sunroof open in a storm. Bob had it checked and the seals were tight. Once again, they did this as a courtesy. They also checked the fluids and the lube and added where necessary. I trust Bob and the Pros. They could have sheared me like a lamb, but instead they gave me options and good advice. I feel like I got more than my money's worth. Bob handles the intake desk. He is always professional, polite and friendly. He calls back in a timely manner with updates and a clear explanation of the issues, options and the repairs. Willie answers sometimes and he is professional and friendly also. In fact, everyone in the shop is polite and friendly. I am thankful that I have an honest auto repair shop where I can take my good old Jeep without worry. Thanks East Cooper Auto Pros!

Description of Work: In the worst heat of the summer our air conditioning died and we took it to East Cooper Auto Pros. They quoted me a price of $500 and I had a deadline of 5 minutes by phone to ok this so they could order the part. Red flags went up all over the place! I took the car to the mechanic we used back home and he fixed it that day and charged us $300. What an unprofessional and dishonest thing to try to do to an unsuspecting customer!

We have been taking our cars to East Cooper Auto Pros for almost a decade (ever since we moved to the Charleston area) and have had MANY experiences there. I do not intend to try to list them or describe in great detail, we have been extraordinarily delighted with the service we have received from them, every time, without exception. They are highly professional, pleasant & friendly, helpful, and extremely honest. We know that if they say a repair is needed, it is needed. They do excellent work for very reasonable prices in a timely fashion. The owner (Willy) and the other service writers (Bob now, and Billy, previously) are exceptional to work with. They treat everyone with the highest respect, clearly and succinctly explaining all issues and situations at a good, appropriate layperson's level, but invite, and are more than willing to answer, questions at any level the client desires. They back up their work exceptionally well, and on the very rare occasions that follow-up work is required, they do it at no cost (unless, of course, it only appears to be related but is actually a totally different issue altogether). They have many times solved a problem with a simple and inexpensive fix rather than the more involved one we expected, and have also recommend against expenses that are unnecessary, especially if they are expensive. For example, they easily could have recommended rebuilding that blown engine, and profited from it, but instead helped us evaluate our best options and supported our decision to cut our losses and dispose of the car, so we donated the car to a charity who would sell it at auction. Our family has recommend them to many people directly, and to thousands of others via other media methods. We do this voluntarily and for no personal gain whatsoever -- and, yes, we still pay the full, though always very reasonable, price for our work! Can you tell we're fans? Go to East Cooper Auto Pros!
Description of Work: This is a SUMMARY REVIEW. Cost of individual services performed have ranged from $0 to $1500 or so. Over the past decade, they've done all our needed auto services on at least 6 different cars for our large family. We are frugal and only buy used cars; we prefer Hondas and Toyotas because of their reliability, etc., but our various cars at any given time typically have 150,000 - 200,000 miles and are 10-20 years old, so repairs are just part of the routine. Services East Cooper Auto Pros have performed for us include: - Minor to Moderate engine work of all kinds; haven't had them rebuild an engine, but we'd certainly choose them if we needed it. (See “Blown Engine Comment” below) - Clutch replacement. - Transmission repair (auto and manual). - Steering/alignment work, including rack replacement, tie-rods, bearings, etc. - Brake work of all types: checks, pads, calipers, rotors (turned & replaced), hydraulics (from lines to master cylinders). - Tires (flat repairs, purchases/installations, evaluations, balances, etc). - Assorted electrical and/or mechanical repairs and/or replacements, such as air conditioning systems, fuel injection systems, window systems (both manual and power), remotely adjustable mirrors, locks, seats controls, sensors, oil leaks, batteries, alternators, starters, radiators, fuel lines, lights, wiper motors/arms/blades, dealing with dashboard warning lights (evaluating the indicated systems for issues and repairing or replacing the system or the indicator light itself, as appropriate) , wheels, timing belts, water pumps, etc. - All routine maintenance (oil/filter, lube, tire rotation, inspections of all systems, tune-ups, hoses, belts, etc). - Pre-buy inspections of used cars. - Pre-trip inspections/repairs. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things, but you get the picture: they've pretty much done it all for us. BLOWN ENGINE COMMENT: I mentioned that we'd have them do an engine rebuild if we needed one, but the only blown engine we had was when a family member didn't realize the need to pull over immediately when the Oil light came on and continued to drive until the engine seized, and was beyond reasonable repair; given the age of the car (almost 20 years), it was not worth replacing or rebuilding the engine.
