Very thorough full body exam and Dr. recommended Aldera prescription to clear up potentially pre-cancerous skin tags on scalp. Treatment runs for two weeks and causes some redness and flaking of dead skin so will wait until this fall to begin treatment.

My husband and I both went the same day and we both had great experiences. He had 2 place that had to be frozen. I had one and I had a mole on my chin that I wanted removed. They were able to do it right then w/out making another appointment. The did a great job with no scaring. Would definitely go back to them again.
Description of Work: went for an overall skin cancer check. The nurse and the PA were very professional and answered all questions

It started badly after I was taken to an examining room after a short wait in the waiting room. Dr. Davidson's assistant brought me into the waiting room and began to interview me. She state, "You have never had any precancerous growths so this is just a visit for screening. Is that right?" That made me feel very uncomfortable because I have been going to dermatologists for about 15 years or more and I have a long record of things being removed. In the past, I have had a dysplastic mole ,and just the year before Dr. Davidson had told me that what she removed from my nose was precancerous and therefore I should come every year. I felt like she was trying to rush me in and out and hadn't even read my chart from last year. For this reason, I asked her what her training was, and she said that she is a "CMA". I said, "How much training have you had, and what are you allowed to do?". She reluctantly told me that she had had 6 months training and that she could do everything a nurse could do except give medications. This troubled me a great deal, but to be honest this is one of my pet peeves in medicine today , that medicine is being dumbed down, and people with little or no training are allowed to do jobs that they are not trained , nor competent to do. I asked if her she was also trained to do the paperwork, and she said that she could handle all of the paperwork in a medical office including medical records and insurance documents. My first thought was that here is a person with very little training who is doing the interview that either a doctor, nurse, PA, etc. should do. I told her that I had high blood pressure and asked her if she could take my blood pressure and she said she could, but she never did. Then Dr. Davidson came in and looked at my body after I put on a gown. I was told to leave my bra and panties on. I was a little disturbed that I was told to leave my bra on as I often have moles and other skin problems under my breasts under the bra. She asked me to pull down my bra just a little so she could see the upper part of my breasts and chest. Dr. Davidson continued the exam and found a few things that I think may have been irritated bug bites and she burned them off. I felt as if I was being rushed and as if Dr. Davidson had no interest at all in me as a person. She was in the room with me for 5-10 minutes at the most and then I left, but the feeling I had was that I was being rushed in and rushed out. Dr. Davidson does seem to be confident about what she is seeing and seems very confident if something is worrisome or not. I trust her judgement, and I would recommend her to my friends. I do worry a lot , though about having an unqualified person doing the pre-exam interview. I am very knowledgeable about my health because health and wellness is one of my hobbies. I worry about the patients who are either too young or too old or who don't know their medical histories and it is for this reason that I am writing this review. I have many doctors, gynecologist, oncologist, internist, opthamologist, etc, but none of them ever have someone lesser trained than a nurse to do the pre-exam interview. To be fair, if you want basically a clerk to do the pre-exam interview why not have them go to do more training at an accredited institution for a year or two so they can at least be better trained to do what can be a life or death job?
Description of Work: She is my dermatologist. Last year I had a precancerous growth on my nose that she removed by freezing it off. She had told me that because I had had this precancerous growth that I need to come back every year to see her.

Excellent, it could not have been better. Dr. Davidson is professional, friendly and empathic; everything you want in your MD. I was worried about the impending pathology results and because it was over a long wkd they were delayed. Dr Davidson went above and beyond by calling us on her vacation to let us know the biopsy results for the more worrisome site and explained about the MOHS centre at MUSC. The return for the actual surgeries at her office went great, and their follow up was diligent and my husband had no adverse reaction. Our entire family of 6 uses her office for our needs and I highly recommend her services.
Description of Work: My husband was seen and treated on several occasions in July and August of 2011 for several basal cell and squamous skin cancer leisions. He and I were very pleased with Dr Davidson and her staff. She also referred us to the MUSC MOHS cancer centre for the largest lesion.

She is good. She is very caring, very competent and very professional. She is very conscientious about her job. She does a good followup; in fact, I had a biopsy done on some skin stuff and I got a report back in just a couple of days instead of another followup appointment; I think they are pretty good on that. She has been available; I have never been really put off as far as appointments or anything is concerned. I would recommend her and would continue to use her in the future.

My son has been followed by three different dermatologists over the past 3-4 years - the first Dr sold her practice to our 2nd dermatologist, and we stayed on for a short while. A close relative worked at that office and had a falling out with the 2nd dermatologist before leaving, and to avoid the awkwardness that followed, we transferred to a third dermatologist recommended to us by a friend. It's not that we were unhappy with any of the three, because they were all competent doctors, just not overly thrilled either. My son's acne began to get worse, and while we were contemplating going back to have Dr #3 take another look and possible adjust the medication, my son developed a very itchy rash. Thinking it was an allergic reaction to something, we spent 2-3 weeks trying to identify the trigger, while the itching just grew worse and worse. Finally I broke down and called Dr #3, only to find out she was on vacation and did not have any openings the week following her return. (Her office DID offer to put us on a call list in case there were any cancellations.) Not wanting to wait any longer, I paid for a subscription to Angie's list and found Dr. Lesly Davidson, an Angie's List POH nominee. I called the office and even though we were new patients, we got a next day appt. We were not disappointed! She is a delightful, knowledgeable professional with a great bedside manner. The staff was friendly and helpful, the office new and comfortable. We waited about 20 min before being called to the back, but there was a staff person who joined us immediately to begin getting the history and information. The doctor came in right after that so we never really had to wait once we were called back. She looked at the rash, and on an afterthought decided to take a skin scraping and positively identified scabies ... which was a surprise to all of us. Frustrating to deal with, but VERY treatable! She took the time to discuss the acne situation, and made a few recommendations that we were willing to try. Before we left, the office faxed the prescriptions to my preferred pharmacy so we would not have to wait on them to pick them up. (That was a nice touch!). Most importantly, my 16 year old son stated afterwards that he wants her to be his regular dermatologist from now on - that he wasn't embarrassed and felt very comfortable with her, and didn't really feel that way with any of the other dermatologists he's seen. If Dr. Davidson had not already been a POH nominee, I would definitely have recommended it!

Description of Work: My sons 16 and 27 and I are patients of Dr. Davidson and we highly recommend her. I have never waited more than 5 mins, and her staff is friendly and professional. She has treated my 16 year old's various problems, especially his acne in a very professional yet caring manner that did not embarrass him and ensured a repeat visit. I have gone to her for adult acne, brown spots etc. I did get botox injections on 2 occasions and took her up on her offer to prove that I didnt need any topical numbing because she was that quick and deft; and I am happy to say she was 100% right. I had less redness and no pain at all. Highly recommended.

My children see Dr. Davidson and she has been wonderful. She has a great bedside manner and realistic expectations with regard to kids' behavior and skin care. Even more importantly, if one of the kids' skin has become infected and we put a call in to the office, Dr. Davidson always responds quickly-sometimes even after hours- to make sure the issue is addressed and treated. I would highly reccomend her.
