David Wertan

Description of Work: We purchased a home through David Wertan. The house is on a slab and after the purchase the hardwood floors buckled due to improper installation. We contacted Mr. Wertan. He had his contractor come back and do some superficial repairs. The floors continue to buckle with ares being raised 2-3". This all transpired over a 3-4 month period after moving in. The contractor came back and removed the floors, leaving the pile of flooring in our driveway, saying he would return the next day and reinstall new flooring. He never returned. We made numerous calls to the contractor, Toby Tyler, and Mr. Wertan. We lived on the concrete slab for 6 months while trying to get this resolved but there ultimately was never any resolution. We needed floors so we had them installed at our expense. We contacted a lawyer but he advised us that because the house was constructed by a shadow company of David Wertan, DAM of Charleston, there were likely no funds associated with that company so a lawsuit would likely be fruitless. We also had to repair ourselves, every plumbing fixture in the house because they were not properly installed and leaked. Every one!. Also, the roof leaked, which we had repaired within the first year. The total expenses we incurred were approximately $5,200. We requested reimbursement for only things we had receipts for, nothing for our inconvenience, but were refused categorically by Mr. Wertan.
