They are little pricey but they do a good job. I would recommend them but I would say they are a little pricey but that's what you get for what you pay.

I have used 2 people for general auto services and one is Arnold's Automotive. Initially I thought that it was great but they really messed things up in the last stages. They did fit the filter out correctly from the previous oil change and it cost me a whole lot of money for the repair for the engine. It was haphazardly done. The cost was only 50 dollars, it was less than 60 but the original problem existed that they didn't screw on the filter correctly and it leaked oil only when I was on the way and not in the garage and it ended up causing some significant problems with the fluids in the engine and the friction of the valves for the distance. I didn't report it back but I am not going back. Prior to that it was fine, I had really no problems. As a fact they took my son's car too, this was my car that it occurred to, for my son's car they fixed the breaks, they oiled it and everything was done very quickly as there was no big problem with his breaks. I think that they had handed it off to just some kid that does the oil change as you can do. The price was good.

The cost was reasonable. There was nothing that I didn’t like. I keep coming back to them because their customer service is good and they actually take care of the car.

We visit the Isle of Palms every September. This year I had a new exhaust and muffler installed before we left and it took a couple of significant bumps on the drive down and seemed to be making unusual noises. I wanted someone to look at it before we drove the 750 miles back home. When I called Arnold's, Brian set me up for an appointment for the next morning. They put the car on the lift, checked everything out and showed me that there were no problems. The noise was just vibration from the new exhaust.
When I asked Brian how much I owed, he said nothing. I felt bad and offered again, but he would not accept.
I was extremely impressed with how quickly I was scheduled and how well I was treated. All with no money involved!

Overall, the job went very well. It's been probably three years since I went there because I've got two new cars, so I take them to the dealerships. With regard to quality, I have gone back to them, so they must be alright.

We have been very happy with the service and trust the mechanics. The staff is friendly and helpful and have gone out of their way, on occasion, to help us. We took the car in for a "needs repair" light once around closing time, and they took ten minutes to diagnose the problem (minor) and didn't even charge us. Our only complaint is that the charges are a bit high for basic services (such as oil change), but we keep going back anyway.

Fantastic. Very professional and honest service. I will definately return to Arnolds for my and my family's car care needs. One thing that impressed me was that I asked them to change something and after he checked it, recommended that it did not need changed. They could have charged me over $900 for that service and honestly reported back to me. That goes miles with me.

They were very honest and ethical and I highly recommend them. They called me to say they could fix the problem but that I could take it to a Honda dealership and they would fix it for free due to an extended warranty that Honda initiated recently. So they saved me ~$2K. They even went to the trouble of finding the new Honda warranty - very impressed. They did charge $180 to take the engine out to find the problem, but this seemed reasonable for the labor.

I first took our car to them in October of 2011, to have them figure out why the engine light was on and to address a vibration under the car. I am from out-of-state so I found them on Angie's List. Their ad on Angie's offered a discount for Angie's List members but when we got there they said they do not offer a discount. They ran computer diagnostics and told me what they thought the problem was. Before I let them continue, since I am not from Charleston, I called my hometown mechanic to confer, and in retrospect I think Arnold's was quite put off by that. I guess they thought I didn't trust them. But I have been taken advantage of by mechanics in the past, as many women can attest to, so I was just trying to make sure by checking with my mechanic who knew my car very well.
Anyway, on this first visit, they replaced front brake pads, rotors, serviced calipers, valve cover gasket, t-stat and gasket, radiator cap, lubed the chassis, new antifreeze, replaced from brake rotor and brake pads and did an oil change and replaced the oil filter. This work came to $775.
However the engine light remained on so i took the car back on October 10th. This time they replaced the upstream 02/A/F ratio sensor and fixed the inside and outside door handle assembly, which I asked them to do. That came to $742.
When after several days I noticed that the vibration remained when driving at high speeds , I made another appointment. I went back on October 21st. First, they were good enough to take a ride in the car with me so they could hear the noise I had been referring to. They even said they put a speaker under the car to record it. And again, I called my mechanic when they said they thought it might be the rear struts. This time they replaced both rear struts, checked hoses, did more trouble shooting and that finally fixed the vibration. The total for that visit was $837. The engine light, however, remained on.
In the summer of 2012 I took my car back to Arnold's, again to see why the engine light was still on and to have them check the car before driving to my dear sister-in-law's funeral. I had gotten an oil change at one of those quick lube places because I had a coupon. Arnold's called me and told me that there was a crack in the radiator and how the heck did the quick lube place miss that? Then they told me that I should come get my car and that they never wanted to work on my car again. I was black-listed.
In retrospect, I think they were insulted that A) I checked with my mechanic both times before letting them work on my car, and B) that I took the car to the quick lube place rather than have them also do the oil change. I admit that (B) was stupid and insensitive on my part. I can understand now how they would be insulted, although if they had said something, we could have talked it through and I could have told them why I had been wary, being from out-of-state and all. In any case, it really upset me, especially given that I'd shelled out over $2300. One would think that my payment and return business would speak to the confidence I had developed in them. But I guess I really unknowingly hurt their feelings and I guess they felt like I was doubting their well-earned integrity, which I never meant to do and for that I am extremely sorry.
In any case, when I returned in August to my northern home, my regular mechanic found the reason for the engine light being on and was able to fix it. Car now runs like a charm, thanks to both Arnold's and my hometown mechanic, G and S Auto Shop!!

All the other diagnoses and repairs mentioned above went well. The mechanic was vexed however, when it came to figuring out what was causing our Toyota Camry's ;engine light to come on, but they did a great deal of research, calling Toyota dealers and other resources, and then made a generous offer to replace a couple of parts at cost, no labor, simply because this problem had been so difficult to diagnose the cause and there was no certainty that that their proposed fix would do the trick either.

The owner, Gary Arnold, spent a lot of time with me and my husband.The mechanic, Mike, rode with me to make sure that the sound I was describing was the same sound he had heard. ;We did have to spend a lot to get our car in working order. But they never did figure out why the engine light was on.

We use Arnold's for several years now and are very happy with their services. Our last experience was with our minivan that we brought in for basic service, two warning lights that came on, and a specific question regarding the brakes. They performed the basic services, ran a diagnostic test, and checked the brakes. A loose wire connection was identified as being the problem behind the intermittent airbag warning light and the brakes turned out to be fine (still don't know why they make a metal on metal sound... the brake pads are still good). We had the car back before the end of the day and felt a lot safer knowing that airbag and brakes were working fine.

Great. this is the fourth time I have had service each time for a different issue. I was extremely satisfied with all aspects of the experience each time.

It ended well but they didn't tell me up front that there was a $120 charge for the diagnostic check. The total bill was $140 because the oil change was $20 and the charge for the diagnostics of $120 was ultimately written off after my protest.

Everything was okay. They are very good, they seem to know what they are doing, and I have no complaints. I thought the price was a little high but the quality was excellent. They did everything quickly.

We were very happy with them. They were able to see us right away. They got the part the same day and finished the work in a day. We were going for a trip, and we needed the car quickly. I rate them high overall.
