Extremely rude and short tempered contractor.
What Happened:We called Phil Singletary to fix our A/C unit that was not cooling. First, he sent 2 young guys out - they said they could not find any leaks, filled the unit with refrigerant and fixed a non-functioning fan within the unit. We payed $450.
Unit stopped working 2 days later.
Phil Singletary came out the following week and looked at it. He indicated there were "leaks all over the place". (So why were his other guys not able to find ANY leaks?). His professional opinion was that we needed a new unit. He communicated his plan to contact Broan for an entirely new unit. He left assuring me this would not be a big deal, he would take care of it and let me know when he spoke with Broan ASAP.
One week later and no word from Phil. And it's hot.
So I called Phil and he told me very curtly that he was waiting to hear from Broan.
About 4 days (still no word from Phil) later my husband called Phil and asked him what was going on. Phil said it wasn't his problem, it was our original installer's problem. Our installer is out of business and he knew this. So, calmly my husband asked him "What can we do?". Phil gave us his " word" that he would call us back as soon as he spoke with Broan on our behalf regardless of what Broan agreed to do - replace it or not.
And guess what? True to his record, he never got back to us.
Once we started speaking with other Heating & Cooling companies around here - it was confirmed that this pathetic kind of service is quite common from Phil Singletary.
In conclusion I would like to share with you the REAL problem with the A/C unit - one leaky valve to the supply line. An easy fix - for someone who knows what they are actually doing. But not for Phil Singletary.
