This was the worst experience I have ever had with home repair. A true example of you get what you pay for. My plan was to remodel my guest bathroom myself but during the planning I decided to have someone actually lay the tile so that I would have a professional looking finish and to save some time. Big mistake. This company came recommended by my a friend of my neighbors and The guy seemed very honest when we spoke. I was initially put off by Doug but after seeing "his photos" of previous work I decided to let him do the work. It was suppose to be a simple tile job. I purchased the tile and supplies (except for the thin set) and did all of the demolition. The job was suppose to be completed in 2 days and the cost was $300 for a 8x5 floor and 6x8 shower. Day1: Received a call saying that the concrete backer I purchased should have been green board and that he would need to get that in order to start. I was a bit confused as to why but approved them buying what they needed. $112.00 additional. When I arrived home I noticed that the hardibacker was down on the floor but had multiple cut and patches. The floor space was 8x5 and the backer was 5x3. Instead of placing 2 solid sheets down and cutting 1 they laid one sheet down the long way and cut and patched the rest. Day2: Started to lay tile but instead of the agreed upon thin set they used adhesive for the floor and shower. The shower had an insert that they never figured out. I came home and in the 8 hours they had been there they had 1/3 of the floor tiled and about the same for the tub. I asked about the adhesive on the floor and they said that was better than Thin set. I really starting to feel bad about this process.Day3: Tiled a little more of the shower and started to grout some areas. Floor still not completed and drywall seams are just horrible. Shower insert is a real eye sore. I asked about the the decorative trim tile that was suppose to be at chest level and they said they would put it up. they finished the floor tile and said they would need about 2 hours in the am to complete the job. my carpet on the stairs and outside of the bathroom have adhesive tracked all over it.Day4: I came home after 4 hours at work ready to head to the lake for a planned weekend trip only to find that still were not finished. The decorative tile was way above my head. only part of the bullnose was up. The tile was partially grouted. The tub was a mess with grout and adhesive. He rushed through the remainder of the job and at 6 p.m asked me when he could come back and grout. At that point I had had enough and said I would finish. He asked me how I liked it and I let him have it. He did not seem to understand my position. As I was explaining it I noticed that they had taken the bullnose on one side of the room to the floor and on the other side it ended at the floor molding. He said he missed that and would pull the floor molding and fix it. Well when he pulled the floor molding water began to spray everywhere. They had put a nail through the water line. What a nightmare!!! well 20 minutes later with the line repaired and buckets in my kitchen downstairs to catch the water, I as calmly as I could told Doug and his crew to pack up all of their stuff and to leave. Again he did not seem to grasp why I was so mad. I told him I had no trust in his work or his abilities and that our business was complete. I paid him in full and kicked him out. That same night I had my plumber come over and inspect the water line repair. I then proceeded to take down all of the tile that they had put up and it is a good thing I did. What a hack job. $500 in tile waisted
