Mr. Pearson was punctual arriving when he said he would. Immediately, work began without hesitation. The painting of a kitchen, living room, breakfast nook and a rather tall stairway was completed in one day. At the end of the day everything was cleaned up and removed and my home was left in its original condition with the improvement of a very professional paint job. I was so impressed by the work that I made arrangements to have a master bedroom painted the following day. This too was done with great care and attention to detail. I would definitely contact Mr. Pearson again for future jobs around my home. I felt that the work which was done was a real value for the dollar. In this day and age it can be so difficult to find someone who keeps their word and has pride in their work. With Ray Pearson I have been fortunate to find such a professional and craftsman.

He did a good job of washing and staining the deck, and was pretty thorough, covering all the exposed surfaces. At the price he quoted, he wanted me to supply the stain. Make sure you get that straight up front.
My only concerns with this provider are in the pricing and the salesmanship. He is a little arbitrary in setting his price, and he's much more of a negotiator than I am. The current job started out as an Angie's List hot deal: $249 to "restore" a deck of 100 square feet. My deck is not very large, but it is a little over 100 square feet in plan area. Turns out, his idea of 100 square feet is the area of all surfaces of the wood - deck top, sides, rails posts ... so he immediately began telling me how he couldn't do the job for $249 (even after I bought the stain), and the negotiating began. It was sounding like his price was going to double (or more), so I started to get irked. Then he began telling me about all the other things he could do, and how it would be better for us both if he could do several jobs for me at once. That's how the job expanded to carpet cleaning - something I really needed done. Since I'm not a great haggler, we landed at a price of $900 total (including the hot deal $249) to do the deck and four rooms carpet cleaning. I shook his hand on that, but went away feeling I'd been had. Since I had already paid the $249 for the original deal, I was over a barrel.
But, I will give the guy credit - he's not out to gouge you. When I let him know the next day I wasn't happy with the price, he knocked $200 off it. We talked about how the negotiation went, how he was surprised when I suggested the higher number, but was more than happy to do the work at that price. I think he is honest, and really wants to make a good impression and keep his customers. He is trying to build a business. And, when he pressure washed the deck, he also did the patio (rock walls and brick surface) without being asked - just to win me back on his side. All told, $700 is not a bad price for the services he did, it's just the way we got there that was uncomfortable to me. If you're a haggler, he's your man.
Now to the problem with the carpet cleaning. His cleaning solution discolored one of our carpets. He pointed it out to me immediately to let me know he was going to set it right. He is insured against such problems, so I expect the insurance will settle this by replacing the carpet.
Why would I use him again? I believe he's honest, he's very accommodating, and he is really intent on doing a good job, and on making his customers happy.

Side note: Find out what type of paint (type, not brand) he suggests for your walls if you are going to buy the paint for him to use. I neglected to do this and got what I have used in the past: Semi-gloss. It looks good, but if I had bought flat or eggshell the fixes wouldn't be as noticeable. This isn't Ray's fault....it was mine. Being the professional, he will know better what your house needs.

It went well. he assessed the job on an agreed upon date; explained the process and set an agreed upon work date. He arrived promptly and worked steadily. Upon completion, we surveyed the results which were great. He had even done a few extra areas not originally planned, at no extra cost.. He had a winning personality and I will use him again.

We later discovered his chemicals bleached our upstairs carpet....yes carpet by blowing underneath a door.

I wasn't going to review him at all but after having several different companies or individuals do work for me that are listed on Angie's List told me I should give a review after I told them what happened with this ceiling fan installation.
"This particular customer was one of the first customers I recieved off of angies list On a handy man special. When I came to his home I had no idea what he wanted when I got there. When he said that he wanted me to install a ceiling fan I thought It was just a regular fan. It was' nt It was one with a remote control built in it I told the customer that I had never installed One like before Annd that I was going to take my time and Do it right and that is what I did. He knew how it went and he did help Me with it. He also inspected it and we made sure that we did it. "I made a mistake calling her got her mixed up with someone else who bought the deal before her I met with her and mother. We went over the scope of the job We also agreed on a price because their was other things She wanted pressure washed. We did everything discussed when we brought her out to approve the the work she threw in her steps which was not included as a courtesy we cleaned them no charge She then signed off on the receipts Customer satisfied Mistake are made when it is not caught during the processs We encourage the customer To check the work after it is done While we are there so if it is a problem we can fix it. And we did that.
