Great! They are very upfront and honest about what they do. They won't do anything unless it's absolutely necessary and you approve it. Their prices are very reasonable. I ended up selling my Honda Civic and purchasing a Honda CRV and called the owner several times to ask him questions about a certain model before I made a final decision. Very nice people!

don't kI have been doing business with this facility for over 10 years. I have found them to be accurate in their diagnosis, fair in their pricing, and delivering what they promise on time and on cost.
They have performed all sorts of services for me from oil changes to drive train repairs.
Don't: Don't go in there expecting cheap pricing. They are reasonably priced, usually below the dealers, but some repairs cost alot no matter who does them.
Do: Listen to their recommendations. Putting off a service to save money in the short term may cost more later

I have Hondas and I only will take them to Derick Bridges of Sandlappers because I trust them. He used to work for Honda years ago and then he opened his own business. He now does maintenance of Hondas and also Toyotas and he has got a business for years in Mauldin. We have two Hondas and whenever I need maintenance, we go there regularly. He is honest. He does not try to sell you something you do not need. If you have a problem, he gets you right in, there's no waiting. You do not have to go to a middle person like at the dealership. You can actually talk to the technician who is working on your car. It is wonderful. It is a lot better and more personal service. His son works at the front desk. He knows what is going on. He understands cars. I call him up, I ask him a question and I get an answer.

Despite the fact that they are approximately 30 miles from my house in
another town, I still used them because they've always been great to
work with and very fair on price. They've always done the work right the first time.

My Father-in-law owns an 1996 Acura that had a Check Engine Light on. In addition, the ABS and TCS lights were also on. We were recommended to take his car to Sandlappers Automotive, since they special in Hondas and Acuras. I stopped on a Wednesday, and had to return the next day, since they do not do same day appointments. He mentioned that they would first scan the code to see what the problem was, and then call me to let me know what the issue was. They called me and told me what the problem was, and also mentioned that more than likeley, once the EGR ports were cleaned, the ABS and TCS lights would also be cleared, but he could not confirm this until afterwards. Sure enough, after the EGR ports were cleaned, the ABS and TCS lights were also cleared.
We appreciated their honesty, which is hard to find nowadays with auto mechanics. I have a good sense of reading character and could tell that he was forthright from the start.
The other thing I appreciated is that this business is family owned, and not a larger dealer style auto shop. They are more personable and do not over charge like a name brand dealership would.
Overall, I would highly recommend this Auto Mechanic Shop to other Honda and Acura car owners.

I called them on Monday morning and asked them if I could drop the car off at noon. I told them the car, a 2002 Toyota Camry with 140,000 miles on it, was pulling to the right. It had been doing that, but got worse after my son backed the car into a ditch over the weekend and we had to have it pulled out. He agreed that I could bring it in at noon. We dropped it off at noon. In a few hours, I got a call that they swapped the two front tires and then it pulled to the left. That told them it was the front tires. The two on the back were fairly new and he said they were fine. He quoted me a price of about $200 to buy, install and balance the two new tires, plus balance and rotate all four tires. He said that if I wanted, they would also do a four wheel alignment for about another $70. I said yes, I want the tires and the alignment. He went on to tell me about, and they always do this in my experience, a couple of things that appear to be not broken, but not in great shape either. Most shops will try to sell you additional work but they always make clear that this is not something that has to be taken care of now, and they never try to talk me into anything. He said the battery is not real strong, and the struts make a noise when cold. He said they typically do this before they go bad. I asked him if there was any advantage to me doing something about it now. He said no, they aren't bad yet but it's something to think about for the next visit.

I heard from them again the next morning. He said the tires were replaced, but he couldn't get the alignment done today. He offered two options: Pick it up and schedule an appointment for the alignment or leave it and get it the next day. I said I'd like to get it done now and asked him to keep it overnight. The next morning, I got a call at 8:30 am that it was ready. I went there during my lunch hour and picked it up. The price was just as he said: $279 total.

This repair place only works on Hondas and Toyotas. I've taken cars to them maybe ten times over the years and it's always been a good experience. I am an amateur mechanic who could do a lot of this work myself, but I don't have time. I have never felt like they weren't telling me straight and the price is almost always what I'd guess or lower. They also have decent people skills which not all mechanics do. I recommend Sandlappers without reservation.
