I have had another lawn care company service my lawn and was never that happy with the results or their professionalism. A friend who has used Greenwize for 4 years told me about Scott Kaufmann and Greenwize and I called them up. From the nice man on the phone who made the appointment for Scott to come out, to the knowledge Scott had about the lawn, etc...it all has been wonderful. These guys are the real deal. My lawn care technician is a former assistant golf course superintendent and has his 2 year college degree in turf grass management! Unreal and all for about the same price I was paying the other company. I am happy as a bug in a rug with these guys. Thanks.

Outstanding! I was previously a victim of Tru-Green. As a result, I was forced to re-sod my lawn last year, and engaged GreenWize this spring to ensure that the lawn would do well. As spring approached, I had patches that were quickly diagnosed by GreenWize as fungus, and were treated by their technicians (John and Jason I believe). They kept returning every week or so to evaluate my lawn's progress, and to re-treat as required, until the fungus was eliminated. I can honestly say that now, my lawn is the thickest and most healthy it has ever been, thanks to GreenWize. I have recommended GreenWize to my neighbors and passers-by who think that I made the lawn look like that. Great job, GreenWize team!

Our service was acceptable the first couple of years then we noticed that our lawn started deteriorating. We informed them about our concerns and they said they would take care of the problems, however the appearance of the lawn never improved. We have another company now that is maintaining the lawn, inspecting it monthly and treating for weeds. They have told us that the lawn has been damaged by fungus (large patch disease) in the past. They seem to be aware of the problems in the lawn and inform us as to what is going on. We feel that we were misled by Greenwize that our lawn would improve over time. They never suggested that there was a problem or that the lawn should be treated with a fungicide. We now have to re-sod 1/3 to 1/2 of the front lawn which is going to cost us extra money. We cannot recommend this company with all the problems we've had. They did not give us good value for our money.

"I would like to respond to the letter by saying that this is a former client of Greenwize Lawn Care. We have not serviced this lawn in nine months. Our contract was up July of 2014. When we service a client's lawn, our SC Licensed Pesticide Applicator Technicians diagnose and treat a lawn, along with regular lawn care maintenance such as fertilization. The client is left a detailed "door hanger" with what was done in the lawn and what chemicals were used. If a lawn gets disease or insects, we treat the lawn for it. That is what we do and that is what we have done for years in the business. If a lawn has a disease not only do we know about it, but the homeowner and even the neighbors would know it. It causes large areas in the lawn that die. The fungus kills the grass. The moment we see a sign of fungus we get on it. It does not benefit us as a company to not treat a diseased lawn. We are not in the business of killing our clients lawn. Out of the blue on Saturday, April 18, the former client left a message on our business answering machine. The message was very hostile and threatening. Now she has written this review here on Angie's List. I responded by phone and spoke to her husband on April 19. I will close by using this analogy: If you see your dentist in January and leave with a clean bill of health and see a new dentist in June and are diagnosed with a cavity, do you blame the first dentist and write a bad review or do you realize that the cavity wasn't there in January so it wasn't treated. I am more than happy to speak with anyone that would like to talk with me about this letter. Our clients are very important to us and as a family owned business we have grown two local business over the past 20 years by giving great service to our valued clients. Scott W. I switched to Greenwize in the summer after using another lawn care provider for several years. My lawn looked better after 1 month with Greenwize than any time in the previous 5 years with my previous provider. Craig is extremely professional - he spent time with me to discuss the issues with my lawn and what Greenwize would do to correct it. I had several patches in the yard with no grass growing and he explained which areas would likely grow back within a year and the larger patch that would take several years for the centipede grass to grow back. I used Greenwize to sod the larger patch and Craig advised that it would be 2-3 weeks before they could get me scheduled. Due to atypical rainfall, this ended up being closer to 6 weeks, but Craig called every week to let me know the status and, since I wasn't in any rush, had no issue with the delay.
They now come out each month at the preset date and, based on the feedback I get, I feel that they take the time to look at my lawn and treat based on my lawn.

See the above. I have never had any good experience with any chemical company- I believe they do not test and assess each yard and treat individually. They just apply the same chemicals to every yard, cheap on the quality to save money, and hope no one pays attention
Response from Greenwize Lawn Care
"Member, My name is Craig Kaufmann, I am a part owner of Greenwize Lawn Care. I am sorry for your negative experience with our company. I was disturbed reading your review because we take an extreme amount of pride in our reputation. Our company consists of my family (my 2 brothers, mom, and dad) and one other full time employee. We started in the turfgrass business in 1999 with the construction of The Sod Farm, a 309 acre turf grass farm in Loris, SC. Our turf grass management techniques have been learned through our experiences at our farm and our education. We do not use cheap and ineffective chemicals or fertilizers. We utilize the ones that have proved themselves to us at our farm. Unfortunately when you are dealing with lawn care, there are no guarantees. You are dealing with a living thing like you and me. Every yard has countless different issues that will influence it's health. Ask any golf course superintendent. What we try to do is provide sound turf grass management practices that give us the best chance to succeed over the long term. Our service does not cover mole control (the burrowing animal). It is specifically excluded in our agreement because they are more like a stray animal than anything else (its excluded in the first paragraph of our Agreement). Similar to a stray dog, there is really nothing that can be done to prevent them from coming on to your property. We do, however, put mole bait in active tunnels while we are there but unfortunately haven't been able to find any products that seem to get rid of them. We have been experimenting with a few products to try to address this issue but haven't found anything that provides consistent results. As for mole crickets, they are insects, and we treat for them with two broad spectrum insecticides (usually March & June) during the year as well as spot treatments if we see evidence of activity during our monthly visits. Fungus problems are largely due to excess water and poor air circulation and neither of these factors is within our control. Fungus is treated as we encounter it. Unfortunately that means we only treat the fungus after it has appeared. We can only mitigate the damage and provide micro nutrients that will aid in the recovery. I took over the office duties in January of 2012, and I was the person that mistakenly sent you those invoices. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of the messages you left until I called you back. I appologize for you receiving those invoices in error. I was new to the accounting system and learning on the job. I was unaware of the error and once we spoke I was able to correct it. I have worked in the turf grass industry for over 25 years but this year was my first as a bookkeeper in an office. Our company is a family business, so we take it very personally. I can assure you that your experience is a rare one. We renew over 90% of our customers each year. We are proud of that number. Lawn care is a difficult task dealing with a living, growing, changing thing that is affected by countless factors (many outside anyones control). Consider that just because you eat right, exercise, and visit the doctor every year, you are not guaranteed good health. It is the same with lawn care. We do the best job we can and try to do everything to give us the best chance to produce the desired result. Our goal is the same as our customers, providing a beautiful lawn. Please contact me if I can be of further assistance. Sincerely, Craig A. Kaufmann Greenwize Lawn Care"

They make it look great! I used to have dead spots and now I don't have them anymore. By far, everything is an A plus. The professionalism is especially an A plus.
