Palmetto Renovations of Columbia, Inc.

We hired Palmetto Renovations to design and build our Trex deck in 2022. They detailed the square footage of product needed to maximize our purchase of the board lengths' linear footage for the design we wanted. The value, service and skill was never forgotten. I write this review as we set our plans in motion to now proceed with our siding installation for our home's exterior. We are very satisfied repeat customers in Lexington when it comes to remodeling with Palmetto Renovations.

The professionalism and no hassle or high pressure sales tactics are awesome. We really liked their product details but went with a different company based on a variety of factors as we look at all aspects, not just price or materials. We will definitely keep them in mind for any future projects.

Has anyone else had problems with customer service? We signed up last December and still have not gotten a start date. Things seem to be done single-threaded and the entire show stops for each individual hiccup. Although we paid for our building materials six months ago, we recently learned they are only now being ordered. Drawings continue to contain inaccurate measurements despite several attempts over the past few months to get them corrected. The designs themselves are not well thought out - there is a door that opens directly into another door frame, dimensions seem off (42 square feet for a water closet?), etc. Drawings are not to scale so we have had great difficulty finding the mistakes we have been able to find - what we do not know is what we have not been able to figure out. Our attempts to discuss these and other concerns are ignored and we are told that we have to wait until the pre-construction meeting to discuss. However, it seems to us that the time to correct design problems is before supplies arrive, not after. Also, they continue to discuss their mistakes in terms of change orders that we are expected to pay for, which I cannot begin to fathom. I do not understand how they have such good ratings but have dealt with us in such a disrespectful manner.   LATEST UPDATE: Sadly, progress is minimal. Below is a text of my latest message to Palmetto: Thank you for responding. The diagrams you sent did not include the as is diagrams we requested . Please send as soon as possible. The proposed design for the second floor is not acceptable due to a number of reasons previously discussed with your staff. We will respond further on these points after we receive the as is diagram. There have been repeated delays in Palmettos acknowledgment and response to the as is request. We require you to provide the diagram by end of day Tuesday, September 12. Further delay on this request must be considered an act of bad faith by Palmetto Renovations. They did not respond at all. The reason must be their fear we are retaining an architect as our representative to Palmetto and official BS detector. They are right. UPDATE: The supervisor of our job came and met with us and re-measured everything for the second floor. I am not sure how the corrected measurements are not part of the contracted scope, as you see stated in Palmettos response, since all three rooms upstairs are being modified. Regardless, we are encouraged that Palmetto now recognizes there was a problem. We have asked three times for an as built diagram that reflects these corrected measurements but no luck after 2+ weeks of asking.

We had a bathroom shower to update, and weren't sure where to start. We contacted several companies, but Palmetto Renovations, and in specific Alex Allen helped navigate us through the process.

I do not normally like to bash a company but this one deserves a bad review. I would hate to see someone else dealing with this person/company. The entire process in dealing with Matt ***** the ( President of Palmetto Renovations of Columbia) was a total joke! He is the ultimate BS er! We wrote our first check for our master bath remodels in May 2021. The second and third checks were written in June 2021. Today is September 29th, 2021 and we are just finishing up. Coordination of the project has been terrible, quality of workmanship has been underwhelming at best. The subs that worked at my house have been short-term contractors for Matt with NO in-person follow-up by Him. Definitely would NOT recommend Matt or his company. Please do your homework before considering them. I did not until after the fact, check better business bureau, check google reviews, etc. Do not rely on the Palmetto Renovations website for your info.

They are very easy to work with and keep busy.

Overall customer service, was superior. Matt always picks up the phone!

They were professional but also very personable!

We love what they did!

They leaned up completely.
