Columbia Tile & Grout Services
About us
Columbia Tile & Grout Services was founded in 2003 as a tile & grout restoration company, providing the maintenance and repair services shunned by most tile installers: cleaning, sealing, color-sealing, regrouting, recaulking, and tile repairs. Over time, we have evolved into a full-service tile contractor with both tile setters and restoration technicians. We employ state-of-the-art dust management technologies and practices to assure that we leave your home or business as dust-free as possible, with special emphasis on preventing and capturing invisible airborne silica dust. Our projects range in size from shower cleaning to regrouting nearly 65,000 square feet of marble tiles in a luxury resort. Our tile installation projects include demolition and replacement of showers, tub surrounds, floors, and backsplashes. We do NOT work on: * outdoor tile * pool tile * countertops * brick or stone masonry * honing and polishing * non-tile flooring

"Ann, I admit that I indeed did overestimate the amount of time necessary to complete your job; but I would prefer to overestimate rather than underestimate the time that you must reserve in your schedule. However, pricing for your job was calculated entirely from our standard rate sheet that we have been using for years for all of our customers. The components of your job price are very objective and measurable items, such as square footage, tile sizes, grout type, caulk types, etc. Neither the number of labor hours nor an hourly rate was mentioned anywhere in the estimate. Your estimate was entirely a fixed price quote and not time and materials. Usually, when we complete a job ahead of schedule, our customers are pleased, so I was surprised to learn for the first time today, three weeks after we performed your job, that you are not happy. Why did not you call me to discuss this at the time? We have invested heavily in training, proprietary tool development, and state-of-the-art equipment so that we can do jobs like yours better, safer, and faster. The experience and expertise of our technicians also contribute to our ability to complete jobs ahead of schedule without sacrificing quality. The technician assigned to your job has 3,500 - 4,000 hours of experience doing tile and grout restoration work. So, when you stated in your review that he did a beautiful job, but you feel ripped off, I am confused. I do apologize for any miscommunication that seems to have occurred and I am dismayed by your dissatisfaction. Your complaint highlights a need for us to do a better job of verbally communicating to our customers about the basis for our pricing, and not rely on the written quote to do that for us. Going forward with my customer communications, I will make it clear that just because I have given them an estimated schedule that we are not billing on a time-and-materials basis. Bruce Wilson, Owner."
"Thank you. We appreciate you taking the time to to provide your feedback for the benefit of future customers."
