We awarded Mr. Bledsoe a competitive contract bid after we viewed one example of his past performance. Bid was for $20,700.00 on 8/14/2009. Mr. Bledsoe showed up and began by complaining about everything in the home including the number of built-ins and the extensive trim work and how it was done. He did this even though he had walked through the house and looked at everything prior to preparing his bid. He continued to complain about all the other subcontractors work and continually make excuses for why he wasn't progressing on his work. All of the other contractors are "A" level contractors with widely held outstanding reputations. He was the only contractor that we decided to go what we thought was "B" level because he was lower in price and we bought his sob story of studying to become a minister and needing the work. He brought one crew to caulk. they worked one day doing poor quality work and never returned. Another 2 painters were brought in. One lasted 2 days and the other didn't come back after a week. The quality of the work of Mr. Bledsoe and his crews was poor with sawdust and dirt sprayed over on cabinetry and window sills. Mr Bledsoe painted the windows (glass) with a new product without permission that was supposed to make cleaning the windows easier after painting. This product has left a glue-like residue on the window grids that has ruined several of them. Mr. Bledsoe had a lot of work left to do and to fix. He kept saying that after everyone else was finished, he would return and finish everything. Soon after the hard wood floor installers finished, Mr Bledsoe returned but instead of going to work as promised, he loaded up his ladders and left without saying a word. He has not return numerous phone calls to him. We have had to hire another painter at a great additional expense to come in and fix Mr. Chris Bledsoe's very poor and incomplete paint job. The new painter has reveled that Mr. Bledsoe wasn't even using the quality of paint that he agreed to use in his bid. This nightmare with this painter has cost us precious time by delaying our move-in date by weeks and money by having to hire another painter to repair and finish the very poor workmanship of Mr. Chris Bledsoe of K & J Improvements. Just recently a well established builder told me that the reason that he has never used Chris Bledsoe and K & J Improvement is because he has performed in a similar manner before.
