Home was completely blocked and would not drain. When I called i told the lady that part of the tank may be under an addition to mobile home, possibly the porch. Was told that if I could get under and dig it out then their guy could. If I couldn't then he couldn't. I got under the addition and dug up the line and located the tank and about 18 inches in was the inlet top and I uncovered the entire cap. Also I had cleared the outlet cap that was outside and easily accessible. They arrived around 3:30 PM and decided they were going to pump out on the outlet end since it was easily accessible. To the best of my knowledge the tank had not been pumped for a long time. They said there was a lot of grease in the tank. The last company I used at a different location took a long rod and broke up the grease and cleaned it out. They did not. They didn't try in any way to break it up. They told me there was still large chunks of grease in the tank after I had paid them and they were getting ready to leave. I had called the office while they were pumping the tank because I felt that since I had uncovered the inlet cap they should attempt to pump that end seeing how the home was not draining to the tank. They finally got under the edge of the addition and ??attempted?? to break the seal and lift the cap then said that's all they can do. I also called back after he told me about the large chunks of grease that they left in the tank to get them to come back and pump out but I was told there would be an additional charge to come back and they pumped septic water not grease. I have ever in my 65 years been told that from a septic company. They also left and did not even cover the tank back up. I was told their charges were for locating, uncovering, "cleaning", and covering back the tank. I paid their fee and I had to locate the tank. I uncovered it and now I have to cover it back up and they still haven't cleaned out my tank. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better business bureau in Columbia. I only wish I had hired Sharpes that was lower and would have done the job right. The lady was so nice on the phone, so I went with C E Taylor. She wasn't nice when I complained. She said maybe I should just put in a new tank and drain field which would cost thousands. All I wanted was the job to be done right.

Decided to chose C E Taylor and Sons by research on Angie's List. In this survey, I almost rated a lower grade for responsiveness, but living in the Columbia SC area and with heavy rains over the last 6 months, I completely understand there are many folks out there in the same boat I am in.
Once I called, I spoke with Dawn and explained the problem. She indicated that Roland was their best person for diagnosing issues related to lift station pumps. After a couple of days anxiously awaiting, Roland called and indicated we were first on the list for Thursday Feb 4th appointment times. Roland ask a few questions about the system and pump and indicated that once he arrives, we will have an answer to the problems we are now experiencing. In that conversation, I could tell that we had a very experienced fellow coming to the Cloud house and we had hired the right folks to investigate the problem.
Upon arriving, Roland and Brandon met us in our driveway and after a friendly handshake and introduction they began to narrow down the problem by ruling out the major concerns of whether we had a pump problem or electrical problem. If a pump problem, it would mean money. If an electrical, it would probably mean less money. After unplugging and flipping the circuit breaker off and on a few times Roland thought this to be an electrical problem. The pump (although old) still was viable and a sure fire way to solidify the electrical issue was to bypass the circuit that operated the lift station pump. Roland asked for a drop cord and we plugged the pump into another outlet at our main house. The pump purred like a kitten and continued to work and NO circuit breaker tripped.
You either have a problem in your breaker box or somewhere between the circuit breaker and the pump, there is a short, said Roland and with that, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Tell Mrs. Cloud that she can wash the clothes she was intending to wash and you folks can venture to your out of town destination and be ok.
To sum up, the experience and visit to Angie's list was the best and right thing to do. The price of $375 was a great price and we believe that Roland and Brandon did a fantastic job. I appreciated their honesty and firmly believe they had our best interest in mind. I have no doubt that they probably could have made a great deal of money off of us if they were money hungry and dishonest. Most folks (including us) are generally at the mercy of folks especially in the septic system line of work. Good honest folks of whom we WILL be doing business with in the future.

This entire experience was a pleasure; from the first call to arrange service through the call to move up service and for the work completed at our residence.  Trey and Tim were professional and took the time to give information regarding future maintenance of our system.  We will certainly continue to use this company and will recommend them to others.

Technician Timothy was very accommodating about rescheduling for us. He arrived in a timely manner, was very polite and professional. He provided the service without a hitch and left the yard very clean and undamaged. We were very, very pleased overall and were even told the status and condition of our 50 year-old tank (that it was still in good condition, etc.) Thanks to Angie's List, we found a great service!

Call on Monday and made appointment for Wednesday.  Was supposed to be first on the list. Was supposed to show up by 9:00.  Had not shown up by 10:00 I called and receptionist said he was at a business.  Never called to let me know they would be late.  Finally showed up about 11-11:15.  Good information about preventative maintenance on septic system from technician.  Little put off by fact he just piled dirt back on top of tank with no attempt to put sod back on top. Overall seemed efficient.
