Precision air and heat, llc based out of SC and NC installed a condenser unit and evap coil for me over 3 weeks ago. The 2 gentlemen that performed the installation were great and polite. Once done, I informed Precision that the supply temp was fluctuating. They informed me by text and voice that someone would come out to check the refrigerant pressures. No one showed or called. I was also told that I'd receive confirmation that the units would be registered for warranty and an inspection would be scheduled to close the permit. Neither have been done. I called Abdul, the service manager and he made it seem like it was my fallult for not chasing them down enough. I called Asia about all of the above. She said she'd call back and never did. I contacted Roger Costner. He did not apologize or try to make things right. If you've been wronged by them, I'd contact the BBB even though they're not accredited (not surprised). I'd also inform the companies they rep. In my case, it's Tempstar.

I still have a faulty sensor indication, but they have said they will come out and repair for the cost of parts. I am happy with that.

We contacted them to get an estimate on the above work. We had a major dust problem especially in the back part of the house and the existing ac unit was not cooling the house in the heat of the summer. David Nixon came out to the house, took a lot of measurements and determined that our ac was between 1 ton and 1.5 tons too small for the house. He also believed that the dust problem was due to the old ducts not being sealed.
We scheduled the work and started obsessing over the temperature outside. We thought we were going to be without ac for the 4 days this was going on but it turned out that they did it in phases so the air was off all day while they were here working but when they left, they would have it back up and running so that was a major relief.
So far so good on the dust problem. Everything appears to be working fine. Not that I'm looking forward to the hottest part of the summer, but I have a pretty good feeling that the house is going to be much cooler this year. The guys who came out to do the work were very friendly and professional. They kept us informed of their progress even emailing to ask if it was ok for them to leave a trailer in the driveway.
It was about the smoothest home improvement project we've had done.

Precision Air & Heat provided a very thorough and honest evaluation of our HVAC system when we engaged them during the inspection stage of our home purchase.  They provided details about the existing systems in terms that we could understand.  They educated us on the life expectancy of the systems as well as recommended changes to improve the systems.  After our home purchase, we asked and they provided a more thorough analysis of our needs and recommended systems.  They responded directly and honestly as we weighed our options on how and when we should make a complete HVAC change.  We engaged Precision to install two complete new systems that included duct cleaning and zoning configurations.  The installation was done quickly, professionally and completely in a way that we felt that they had our best interest in mind.  This all comes from homeowners who have owned one existing home and have built two new homes over the past 30 years.  We know what a good vendor looks like.  Give Precision a chance.  Ask a lot of questions.  Get things in writing.  Most likely, you won't be disappointed and will be happy with your decision.

I solicited proposals from 3 firms.  Precision was very competetive with other firms with good reputations.  Even though I did not start work until a cooler part of the year, 4 months later, he honored his prior proposal.  Showed up on time.  Even though work took 1/2 day longer than estimated, no increase in cost.  Good crew.  Very professional and thorough.  No short cuts.

I have had a/c issues all summer with a/c unit not running efficiently. Had 3 different companies come to check it out over the summer-each time old unit low on freon but nothing resolved. Finally the last tech advised me that I had 3 good sized coil leaks and compressor was not performing 100%.  I started to research for a different HVAC company and  my first call to Precision Air & Heat was around 530pm on a weekday night to have someone look at the unit and provide estimate on new a/c. Laura called me back right away and advised me that a tech was nearby-1 hour later David Nixon was at my house.  He was very professional and neat and had a calm demeanor. He looked over the equipment and told me he would have an estimate for me that night. I was happily surprised when I did get the estimate at around 10pm. I was very happy with the fair price for the Trane unit and new 2 zone unit (I received other quotes which were higher for a lesser quality brand).  Shortly after that visit my a/c stopped and David came by and told me that the compressor had seized up and could not be repaired (by the way, he never charged me for that service visit).  Three days later, David and crew were here installing the new equipment. It was an all day job due to getting the 2 zone damper system installed. The crew were all very personable and professional as well.  I am thrilled to have the a/c working again but even more thrilled with the 2 zone damper system.  Thanks David for doing the install so quickly and professionally.  I have already recommended you to others.

Precision Air & Heat were very through in their procedure.
They wanted to take measurements and confirm insulation values in order to
determine what would be needed to heat and cool the home. They?re very low key
and wanted to discuss all options without pressure. I look forward to seeing
the estimate.

Having accepted their estimate they moved forward at a pace that was
comfortable for myself, I had family visiting and they accommodated my needs very
well. They arrived on time and were very professional in the way they conducted
the install, being sure to pay attention to the small details that often get
overlooked. They really tried hard to not impact our living space constantly
cleaning up after themselves, and making sure things were put right before
leaving each night.

Final inspection was signed off and we could not be happier. David is a very
calm and collected professional who won?t do you wrong, he came across as a
little quiet in his mannerism but he took the time to explain everything and wasn?t
pushy...if only all contractors could conduct business this way. Thanks again.

I sent Precision Air & Heat an email late on a Sunday evening letting them know that we needed service on our AC system. I had worked with them previously on a commercial project and now needed their services on our home. Our AC stopped working right in the midst of record breaking heat days in Charlotte. I received a great email response back early Monday morning and was told that someone would be out to take a look at our system later that morning. They came out within the communicated timeframe.
The first day they came out they put some refrigerant (Freon) in the system because it was very low and also added some leak detection die because of the concern for a potential leak. The following day the problem seemed to persist so the reality of a leak seemed very evident. They checked the air exchange unit in the attic and found a leak on the evaporator coil and later found a leak on the manifold of the condensing coil on the unit outside. Their skilled technician, Wally, successfully repaired both leaks. His willingness to try the repair, and his skilled ability to get it done, ultimately saved us thousands of dollars. It was a real blessing.
After successfully repairing both leaks they finished recharging the system. They are a stand up company, and they did the right thing by not charging us for the refrigerant the second time around. We had to pay for it on the first day, but after it all leaked out overnight; I was impressed that they made the honorable choice to recharge it at no cost after repairing the leaks.
Later that evening I still had some concern regarding the house and that it was not cooling down as expected. I called the technician and he kindly made the drive all the way back to Fort Mill even though he was already at home, quite a distance from our house. He came back out, rechecked the levels, and thankfully the leak fixes held. He made a minor adjustment on the refrigerant pressure, which seemed to make a difference. He also took the time to check the attic again and look at the dampers on the bypass and the three zones.
He explained how the bypass damper was not properly installed and we were likely losing a lot of cool air volume to the bypass, never reaching the inside of our home. He adjusted the bypass damper so that air would not escape like it was. He also looked at the zone dampers, because I knew one was questionable. He showed me how two of the zone dampers were not working properly and were contributing to the inconsistencies in cooling we had seen in the house since we purchased it almost a year ago. He adjusted them a little so they could do their best until replaced.
The following morning, the third day, we woke up to a cool 72 degrees. It was relief at last. We were very pleased with the timeliness, professionalism, skill, and value provided by Precision Air & Heat. We would hire them again and recommend them to others.

As always, they do it "right" for a fair price.  Other companies I have dealt with either do band-aid repairs (non-commissioned service techs that are lazy - i.e. Roland Black, Gastonia) OR another company will have commissioned service people that charge literally DOUBLE the money, but do it "right" (i.e. Brothers).  To find a company with fair pricing that has service people that repair systems correctly (regardless of how much work it is to do it correctly) is a find.  That's these guys.  Keepers.

He has serviced our heating and air systems every Fall and Spring for years and years. We haven't had to have any systems replaced for 13 years since we have been using this company for maintenance on a regular basis. They do everything that you would expect a good company to do; we almost always have the same service technician each time.

Came home from vaction to an upstairs a/c unit that was blowing hot air. Upstairs was 95+ degrees.  Called another a/c company (unnamed here) that we had used before. Tech came out and pumped 6 pounds of freon into my system charged me big bucks and left.

The a/c worked for exactly 1 week until all the freon was gone again and upstairs was 95+ degrees again.

Called Standard Mechanical in the morning and spoke with Robin, and was told their schedule was full for the day but she would do what she could.  Got a call back about 30 minutes later and was told they could have a tech over within the hour.

Tech arrrived and checked out system using a freon detector and determined that the air handler condensor was bad/leaking.  Tech recommended that we NOT add any freon at this time as it would be a waste of money.

Tech also mentioned that our system was not matched components and that they could replace the air handler/condensor  only, but the system was already 10 years old and most likely getting close to end of life.

We asked him to have someone quote us a replacement system, and received a call from David within an hour.

David came out and quoted us three different systems ranging from entry-level to to high-end. After receiving quotes from 2 other companies, we decided to go with Standard due to their professionalism, quick followup and overall knowledge of the products they offered. At no time did Davisd try to push any of the three systems on us, he just gave us the pros and cons of all 3.

The crew arrived on time as scheduled, did everything they said they would and left our house in as good as or better condition than when they arrived.

I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I called in the morning and was told by the person who answered that she would see if she could get someone out that day and call me back.  I had reached out to Standard Mechanical first because they have good ratings on Angie's list and I was looking for a company that I could build a long-term working relationship with.  A few hours went by with no call, so I called again, since it was almost noon, and I was risking my opportunity to get someone else if Standard Mechanical could not respond.  I was told that someone would be coming, she could not give a time, but that I was the 3rd person on the tech's list.  I then had to repeat my town and zip code 6 times (I know this seems petty, but I am in the exact same town and zip as their listed address).  She then called back to re-verify my zip code.  After several more hours I called again to see when they might be coming, and was told I am "next".  The tech finally arrived at the end of the day and fixed the HVAC unit.  When I received the bill, it included a $96 "Trip Charge".  This charge was not mentioned on any of the calls with the office or by the tech, and is not listed on the Angie's description.  I found this large non-disclosed charge outrageous, especially from a company 3.71 miles from my house.  Most companie's are upfront with any trip charges, and I skipped over them because of that charge.  I find the fact that Standard Mechanical did not disclose this charge at all, highly deceptive and unethical.

From the first visit to the second they were great.  They did run late on the second visit but made sure to contact me to confirm my schedule was okay and that they could still come out.  Once here, they immediately jumped in to the project.  They highlighted things I needed to keep an eye on.  Showed me where repairs were needed and what changes I may need to address.  The repairs suggested I must admit were obvious and I felt comfortable taking their advice.

Everything is running wonderfully now.
