Wally was very nice and professional!
We scheduled the work and started obsessing over the temperature outside. We thought we were going to be without ac for the 4 days this was going on but it turned out that they did it in phases so the air was off all day while they were here working but when they left, they would have it back up and running so that was a major relief.
So far so good on the dust problem. Everything appears to be working fine. Not that I'm looking forward to the hottest part of the summer, but I have a pretty good feeling that the house is going to be much cooler this year. The guys who came out to do the work were very friendly and professional. They kept us informed of their progress even emailing to ask if it was ok for them to leave a trailer in the driveway.
It was about the smoothest home improvement project we've had done.
They wanted to take measurements and confirm insulation values in order to
determine what would be needed to heat and cool the home. They?re very low key
and wanted to discuss all options without pressure. I look forward to seeing
the estimate.
Having accepted their estimate they moved forward at a pace that was
comfortable for myself, I had family visiting and they accommodated my needs very
well. They arrived on time and were very professional in the way they conducted
the install, being sure to pay attention to the small details that often get
overlooked. They really tried hard to not impact our living space constantly
cleaning up after themselves, and making sure things were put right before
leaving each night.
Final inspection was signed off and we could not be happier. David is a very
calm and collected professional who won?t do you wrong, he came across as a
little quiet in his mannerism but he took the time to explain everything and wasn?t
pushy...if only all contractors could conduct business this way. Thanks again.
The first day they came out they put some refrigerant (Freon) in the system because it was very low and also added some leak detection die because of the concern for a potential leak. The following day the problem seemed to persist so the reality of a leak seemed very evident. They checked the air exchange unit in the attic and found a leak on the evaporator coil and later found a leak on the manifold of the condensing coil on the unit outside. Their skilled technician, Wally, successfully repaired both leaks. His willingness to try the repair, and his skilled ability to get it done, ultimately saved us thousands of dollars. It was a real blessing.
After successfully repairing both leaks they finished recharging the system. They are a stand up company, and they did the right thing by not charging us for the refrigerant the second time around. We had to pay for it on the first day, but after it all leaked out overnight; I was impressed that they made the honorable choice to recharge it at no cost after repairing the leaks.
Later that evening I still had some concern regarding the house and that it was not cooling down as expected. I called the technician and he kindly made the drive all the way back to Fort Mill even though he was already at home, quite a distance from our house. He came back out, rechecked the levels, and thankfully the leak fixes held. He made a minor adjustment on the refrigerant pressure, which seemed to make a difference. He also took the time to check the attic again and look at the dampers on the bypass and the three zones.
He explained how the bypass damper was not properly installed and we were likely losing a lot of cool air volume to the bypass, never reaching the inside of our home. He adjusted the bypass damper so that air would not escape like it was. He also looked at the zone dampers, because I knew one was questionable. He showed me how two of the zone dampers were not working properly and were contributing to the inconsistencies in cooling we had seen in the house since we purchased it almost a year ago. He adjusted them a little so they could do their best until replaced.
The following morning, the third day, we woke up to a cool 72 degrees. It was relief at last. We were very pleased with the timeliness, professionalism, skill, and value provided by Precision Air & Heat. We would hire them again and recommend them to others.
The a/c worked for exactly 1 week until all the freon was gone again and upstairs was 95+ degrees again.
Called Standard Mechanical in the morning and spoke with Robin, and was told their schedule was full for the day but she would do what she could. Got a call back about 30 minutes later and was told they could have a tech over within the hour.
Tech arrrived and checked out system using a freon detector and determined that the air handler condensor was bad/leaking. Tech recommended that we NOT add any freon at this time as it would be a waste of money.
Tech also mentioned that our system was not matched components and that they could replace the air handler/condensor only, but the system was already 10 years old and most likely getting close to end of life.
We asked him to have someone quote us a replacement system, and received a call from David within an hour.
David came out and quoted us three different systems ranging from entry-level to to high-end. After receiving quotes from 2 other companies, we decided to go with Standard due to their professionalism, quick followup and overall knowledge of the products they offered. At no time did Davisd try to push any of the three systems on us, he just gave us the pros and cons of all 3.
The crew arrived on time as scheduled, did everything they said they would and left our house in as good as or better condition than when they arrived.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
"Thank you for the feed back. We take all comments to heart and try to improve our service constantly, really striving hard to please all our customers. David Nixon owner"
Everything is running wonderfully now.
