Benton Outdoor Living

I used Benton for a large pool project. I brought them in from the beginning. Bob was excellent throughout the process. His communication was spot on and he worked very well cordinating with the pool company. Everything was taken care of, and I mean everything. He toof care of all of the details that I would not have thought about. Amazing experience. Just FYI, the review from Stacey D is false. She lives in my neighborhood and has issues with everyone!

We are a repeat customer...Benton did our outdoor lighting & everything went fine. Bob Hager came to my home & gave me a quote. We went over everything & came up with a plan. We tweaked it & he said he would send someone in approx. 2 weeks. I never heard back so I followed up. He said it was a mix up so he would send someone in 2-3 weeks & again nothing. I called/emailed him & he ignored me. I called the office & spoke to Kathie who was surprised. She called me back & made a bunch of excuses that Bob is a single dad & is busy. Even when I'm busy I get back to clients. Finally Bob emailed saying he was doing me a "favor" trying to squeeze me in because it wasn't that big of a job & usually jobs are 4 months out. I never asked to be squeezed in...put me on the calendar with everyone else. So, is my job not big enough for them? They're picking & choosing what jobs they want? I even emailed John Benton explaining everything only to be completely ignored as well. Horrific customer service! Lastly, a girl named Erica who is new there called me & said she'd call me back the next day but I bet you can guess what happened...no call back...great follow up with this company. I first called them in March & it's now October. At least another landscaper is finally scheduled to do my landscaping & it will look much better than what Benton is capable of since all of their plantings always look the same and they are overpriced. I am saving money to boot!

I used Benton to pour a semi circle drive and a retaining wall, plus some stone pavers. Seth was great with getting a design together and in recommending materials. The build of the wall needed to be redone six times to get it right, but the final product is beautiful. When it comes time to build, you have to stay on top of Bob to get the details right. For example, the first time the wall was built, it had an entire extra course on it, and it was not symmetrical. There was another issue with the concrete pour and not properly capping a pipe, but that is a minor issue. They have the skill, but lacked the attention to detail, which required so much re work. Overall though, I recommend them and would use them for my next project.

I recommend strong caution against using Benton. I had a major landscape project, and ended up having them rebuild a wall six times before they got it right. Their general contractor would come out and we talk about what it needs to do, and then about a week later a crew would show up and build it incorrectly. This extended the project by weeks. Another big issue was with concrete that was poured. A piece of trash was poured into the concrete and left, causing it to crack and break apart. Despite months of conversations with Mr Benton himself about this problem, he never bothered to come back and fix it. Overall Benton seems to have a lack of concern for quality or attention to detail, and does not stand behind his work.

When searching for a full-service solution provider to partner with our pool installation we struggled to find a company that could provide the end-to-end solutions we were looking for. We needed a landscape and hardscape design that would compliment the new pool and make the best use of the existing grade of the back yard. Benton Outdoor Living was the best decision we could have made. They worked with us to learn what we were looking for and designed a beautiful plan that could be executed in phases which included a retaining wall, landscape and hardscape plan, underground pipe for excess runoff essentially eliminating the swale and giving us a fully useable backyard space complete with grilling station, firepit area, landscape lighting, etc. What an amazing experience! Bob was AWESOME – very accessible and worked collaboratively with us to “engineer” our costs down. While the rain was a challenge, it delayed the project by only a few days – the team worked just about every day, rain or shine. We would recommend Benton Outdoor Living without reservations - you won't be sorry. Thanks Benton!!!

Seth did drawings, gave clear and detailed estimates, and delivered to spec on time.  Work was well done and neat.  Seth was a pleasure to work with.
