Repairman came out. I made the mistake of telling him right away that we shopped the prior weekend and a man at Lowes suggested it was the freezer seal. He immediately opened the freezer door and said that it was the seal. He said the ticking noise we were hearing was our ice maker and it needed to be replaced also. It was full of ice so I told him that we were not replacing the ice maker until it totally broke down. He showed me how to replace the seal so I told him that we would buy one and replace it. He was going to charge $80.00 per hour to do it in addition to the cost of the seal (156.00 with tax at Tribbles) . He charged me $90.00 for the service call and left. He was very friendly, we talked all about his family, but HE DID NOT test the fridge. His receipt states that he tested the unit and found a bad seal and ice maker. He stated that we chose not to do the repairs with him at this time. We went to Tribbles that afternoon and bought the seal that took my husband all of 10 minutes to take the old one off and replace it with the new one. The next morning the ice was worse. I called Able and asked for him to return since it was obvious that it was not the seal causing the ice to build up. They could not return for five days. During this time the milk in my fridge spoiled. We knew then that we were dealing with a serious problem We went out on Friday and bought a new fridge. I called Able and cancelled the return repair visit. I asked for my service call of $90.00 to be returned since the repairman never tested the unit and blamed the problem on a seal. I explained to her that I was also out the $156.00 for the seal that we bought. She refused and said that everything was my fault since I did not let them replace the seal. She said that he went with the obvious repair (the seal) and the he didn't need to test anything! After doing research, I discovered that the issue was probably a faulty defrost switch. The only reason we bought a new fridge was the fact that it was 7 years old and we needed something to keep our food cold right away. That was on Friday and they were not even coming back to my house until Monday afternoon.

"[Member Name Removed], There is not one test to perform on a fridge to see what is causing a problem. You pointed out the tear in the freezer and fresh food section door gaskets and yes, that can cause the minimal amount of ice build up you were experiencing in the freezer because it allows warm air in. Your unit does not have a defrost timer. Defrost on that unit is controlled by a board not a timer. You stated that your new milk curdled in one day. That sounds like a temperature issue and we were not aware of this new issue. We rescheduled the technician to come back to help on Monday due to the long Thanksgiving weekend, but you canceled. As you decided to repair this unit on your own, I cannot warranty the work done as it was not done by our technician. The invoice clearly states that the trip charge is nonrefundable."

Technician called about 20 minutes before he arrived. When he showed up, he Was very knowledgeable and helpful. Quoted us a price and we agreed to have him repair it. He got the job done fast and at a reasonable price. The girls at the office are very helpful and super nice. Thank you able appliance. My refrigerator is now cooling again!

I had an issue where my microwave's magnetron was arcing (sparking) and making a very unpleasant sound. I called Able Appliance and, and for $90, they sent a technician who told me that the magnetron and the high voltage power source would have to be replaced. It would be a $778.62 repair and I had to pay up front. I asked the technician if it was worth it (rather than buying a new microwave) and he said "Yes -- they're the only two parts that can go bad besides the keypad, so you're essentially rebuilding it." Several days later, he returned with the parts and did the work. About two minutes into the test, the new magnetron began arcing and making the same awful sound. The technician made a phone call, then told me that the microwave was unfixable and left. So I have the EXACT same situation I had before Able Appliance came into my life, only I'm $778.62 poorer. I reached out to Lisa, the owner, through their website and have heard absolutely nothing. Had I been told during the $90 dollar evaluation that there was a chance I would be lighting a match to $778.62 I never would have had the work done.
