I would like to highly recommend Costner Landscaping Services! My husband and I have been homeowners for 33 yrs and lived in three different locations. As you can imagine, we have had alot of landscaping companies come and go. By far, Costner Landscapers have been the best that we have ever been associated with!! The crew went above and beyond what we expected! During our project , we had a small microburst tornado hit our street. When the crew showed up that morning to carry on their work, they were met with storm debris all over the backyard that they had previously made pristine just the day before. A large Cedar tree had fallen right into the middle of our new patio. Without any hesitation, they quickly got to work and had our backyard back to the pristine shape it was before!! Not only did they clean our yard, but our next door neighbors’, then picked up debris on the whole street!! Our neighbors were so impressed ,SO APPRECIATED, their kindness and generous hard additional work!! We also had low voltage lighting added to our backyard project in which, Peter gave me great alternative ideas that would meet our budget. The hardware is beautiful and of good quality which lends to such an appealing outdoor environment. There are not enough stars to rate this Company. I told my husband that we have found our new landscaping Co and will never have to go searching again!!

Costner Care provided decent service up front for my landscaping, but did some questionable things like edging around trees that had no mulch prior and should not have been edged. Regardless I decided to continued the lawn care and the service was ok, but communication was often poor. The experience turn especially sour when Costner Care lost my neighbor as a customer and decided to provide me less than 1 day notice to cancel my recurring weekly service during a holiday weekend. Peter Costner, the owner, did not even respond to my request to continue service for an additional 3 weeks while I secured another provider. Furthermore, an alternate provider he referred failed to answer phone calls or respond to text messages leaving me in a very bad spot in the middle of the summer. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice because they lost another customer across the street and then failing to respond to a compromise request of 3 additional weeks to bridge until I find a replacement is unacceptable and unprofessional. Even if they were not going to agree to 3 weeks, to not show up the following day is ridiculous. I understand there was no contract, but this is not a way to do business in my view. Please note, there was no contract due to the house being on the market, although I mentioned that I may be interested in a contract at my next residence if the service was good, which will obviously not be happening. The note I received from Peter the night before they were supposed to show up for their weekly service is as follows. "I regret to inform you that we will no longer be able to service your lawn. Since your neighbor moved and the new homeowner has not contacted us, it is not worth the travel to service only one lawn. I apologize for the late notice. We were also informed last minute. Below is a name of someone who may be able to take over service for you."

"1- During an extensive cleanup and mulch job for this person, We began to create a small bed for his trees for protection from mowers and trimmers along with placing mulch for nutrients for the roots. He stopped us. 2- We did not have a contract due to the short time being in the neighborhood. We did some cleanup and mulch for the neighbor as well. (Due to this work, I decided to help both of them out by mowing for them for a while. These yards were not close to other properties we service.) The neighbor informed me that the house was sold and needed to stop service immediately. In turn, I immediately informed this person that we will no longer be able to service his lawn due to the location of the property and that it was the only lawn in the area anymore. 3- I did provide a potential replacement that works and lives 5 minutes from that location. 4- This person is upset that he has not been able to sell his home and is looking to blame CCLS."

I contacted Peter Costner by email and he responded promptly. The appointment was set for an estimate and he was not only punctual, but extremely professional. We hired him to perform the work needed and scheduled a time to complete the project. He and his team arrived on time, their work was beyond excellent and the job site was cleaned to perfection. My husband and I would definitely hire them again. This is the best experience we have had with a contractor in Fort Mill and Charlotte. I highly recommend Peter Costner and his team.

I hired Costner Care to clean up the flower/shrub beds around my house, remove some dead and unsightly shrubs, plant new plants, and lay new pine straw. They were able to come out pretty quickly to take of this job and did a fantastic job. While they were there they suggested some alternative solutions that worked out perfectly. I couldn't be happier.

We needed help with how to landscape two areas in our yard after having some trees removed. Peter gave us good advice and suggestions on what to do. He relandscaped a large portion in the front of our house which turned out beautifully really opening the space up. Peter and his crew showed up on time and worked very hard until the job was complete. Would definitely hire again.

We are VERY pleased with the work done by Peter and his staff. Since we don’t know a lot about landscaping, Peter was extremely helpful by making recommendations that were within our budget and within our maintenance level. His crew was on time, professional and flexible. One of the things we really appreciated was Peter's responsiveness concerning a quote and that he kept us informed during the entire process.

At the beginning, Costner had the best rates and provided good service especially given those rates. My lawn has trouble spots for various reasons and Costner did a good job of managing them. I was not seeking an award winning lawn (nor was I paying for that level) and Costner's team did a solid job. Over the next few years, there were multiple communication issues, the service level dropped and I don't feel my lawn was given sufficient care. The only communications I ever received were form emails with vague details in terms of when particular treatments would happen. I brought up my unhappiness with the service. Rather than propose solutions to my problems, I was curtly told that the issue was that I did not water my lawn. The last straw was when the team serviced my lawn well wet and tracked mud all over the lawn and driveway. It was at that point that I decided to find a new landscaper.

"This customer never communicated with me about anything. We send out emails about what to look out for in the landscape and what we will be doing each month. He never responded. He only asked why his fescue was brown in the summer. This was after I setup a watering system for them with timers...it was only used after seeding in the fall and occasionally in the spring the first year. I am not sure why this customer would say these things."

Things started off fine, but with the one or two special request/needs outside of the regular service, the communication was poor and the fee was not agreed upon yet charged to my monthly bill. I do not plan on continuing with CLC next year. Also, the employees would leave the fence unlocked after mowing and my dog would be able to get out of the backyard.

"This customer asked us to setup a swing 40' high after trimming limbs off of a tree. I told them we could trim the limbs 20' high only BUT do not feel comfortable putting up a swing since my guys are not trained to do so. My guys were there with a pole saw on a normal service day and the spouse asked them to cut higher than they were able to do safely, which was not part of the agreement. Therefore, this customer was upset at us for not doing what they wanted. I have turned down landscaping work they have asked from me due to the way they went about working with us. My guys did forget to lock the gate one time to my knowledge."

The crews were efficient and cleaned up and performed the work as proposed. There were some small revisions I requested during the "walk through" that were revised to my liking without any complaint or excuse. Very pleased with the work and I will use them again. Price was consistent with other providers or a little less.

Peter and his crew installed stacked stone edging around our beds and trees.They did a wonderful job. They arrived early and thoroughly cleaned up after. It looks beautiful and is exactly what we wanted. Peter is great to work with and we enjoyed the whole experience from conception to installation. We highly recommend this company.
