Currently doing the landscaping for an English Country Garden and a separate Japanese Garden. I purchased plants from 3 different online nurseries and was very disappointed with each. I had never used Green Thumb so i called them to see if they had the specific Japanese maple I was looking for. Val answered the phone and was so helpful and patient with me. (i am near deaf) She sent me pictures of what they had available. One was exactly what I wanted. I had purchased one on line that was expensive, not what i wanted and very sad. Val said Suzanne would be in the next day and be a great help to me, Since then Suzanne has been a tremendous help. I live on Daufuskie Island which requires bringing large items on a barge. This requires scheduling not only the barge but loading and unloading on both sides. Prices were excellent as were the plants. Suzanne went above and beyond ordering just what I needed. Every plant was gorgeous, the best I have ever seen. Lifetime customer here!

Work could not have gone better. Results are beautiful. Meticulous, professional, well mannered crew that really knew their craft and were perfectionists about the result. Hands-on owner, who reviewed the work personally and regularly. Everyone was very customer focused and intent on a high quality result. Great value for the investment.

When we continued to complain, Frank, the owner, said he never responds to voice mails. That the only way to get in touch with him was by text. But this was also an empty promise. There were many "no shows" throughout the year and a half. Eventually, we replaced many of the plants on our own.
When I posted these problems on our Sun City Facebook Resident site, I received many, many complaints from people who had gone through the same thing.l One couple claimed to have threatened him with legal action unless he gave them is money back - which he did eventually. 100% of the responses I got were all negative, and very similar in content. Most just gave up after a while.
Since then, he has sent me a certified letter blaming me for our problems, and how he tried to please me - but he doesn't understand why we are still upset. We are upset because it took them a year and a half to redo our landscape - and they never finished repairing the damage they caused to the side of the house. Our neighbor ended up having to repair his property on his own, because we were traveling in Alaska. But we reimbursed him as soon as we returned. This was most embarrassing. In short, our experience with this company was a nightmare!!!

"This review is a duplicate complaint from last year. We are not sure why this customer will not respond to our requests to call our office and tell us what is "not done". We did send a certified letter many months ago asking her to do so and got no response. When the job was completed at this customers home they paid in full accepting the job as 100% satisfactory. If there was an issue is should have been addressed at that time. We do not guarantee perennials and that is stated in our contract. Our contract also states that we will handle replacements during the next growing season. As previously stated Frank prefers texts or calls to the office rather than voice mails on his cell phone. His voice mail specifically states this and no one seems to have a problem following these instructions. Frank is on estimates or job sites throughout the day and cannot operated efficiently any other way. It is also unadvisable to install a new landscape and leave town for Alaska for an extended period of time and not take care of your investment. This is just one of those situations where there is no pleasing this customer."

"Thank you for your feedback. It is all to often in today's society that we get feedback when there is a problem, but not when we are doing thinks right. Thank you so much."

Working with Frank Lynch and his folks at The Green Thumb went great. The members of the work crew were were prompt, professional and hardworking. We were able to make changes on the fly as the vision for the resulting garden took shape. There was follow up each night to ensure that all went well. The worksite was left neat and tidy each evening. The plants used were healthy and gorgeous. The project came in on schedule, on budget and according to plan. The results are beautiful. We talked with a lot of companies about our project but The Green Thumb positively differentiated themselves in many ways from start to finish. We are so glad that we chose them to work with us on our home

Signed contract on 2/16/15 with a $6,500 down payment. Work did not begin until 4/9/15 due to weather delaying other projects, therefore pushing our project back - not enough help to manage the backlog of work. Had to continuously call the owner to get an update on when the project would start. Project was estimated to take 5 working days - actual project started on 4/9 and completed on 5/1/15 - several days during this time period no work was performed. Poor project management - no one present when brick company delivered patio bricks to show them were to stage pallets or to check pallets for accuracy of order, no one present when sod company delivered sod to show them where to stage pallets or check sod for quality, not enough bricks ordered to complete project requiring a reorder and delay in completing patios, sod not installed according to plan - home owner had to show workers where the sod was to be laid in the back of the house. Lack of project oversight required someone to be home when work was being done, however, lack of a written project schedule made it very difficult for the home owner to plan. Had to place numerous calls and texts to Green Thumb to find out the schedule.
A working irrigation system was a requirement of the contract in order to insure viability of the new sod. The Green Thumb recommended using their irrigation team since they would be at the ready when the sod was delivered. This service was an additional charge to the project. The final fee for irrigation services was $2,228. One zone of the revamped irrigation system did not work properly and we asked Green Thumb to send back the irrigation technician. The technician said that the system was working when he left the job, even though we pointed out 2 heads that were not coming up before he left the job on 5/1/15. We were informed it would be an additional charge to what we already paid to fix the zone.
During removal of old shrubs around the pool, the workmen cut the skimmer line in 2 places and the main drain in one. Had to have a pool company come and find the leaks and repair them, unfortunately two of the breaks were under the new sod that had been laid. The Green Thumb refuses to take any responsibility for this damage, even though the location of the pool lines was pointed out to the crew and they admit they probably cut the lines when taking out the old shrubs. The pool was fixed at home owners expense, however there are two sunken areas in the new sod where holes were dug to find the leaks.
I would not recommend this company. They have very poor project management, you have to watch closely what they do to be sure you are getting what you paid for, and they do not take responsibility for damage done or incomplete work.

"Our contract indicates that we cannot be held responsible for underground pipes that are damaged as a result of us removing very mature landscaping. Roots become attached to underground lines and there is no way to avoid damage to pipes if there are any in the area where we are working. Unfortunately this customers pool was closed for the winter and we were unaware of hitting a pipe as there was no water pressure in the line. We would have repaired the pipe if given the opportunity, but the customer called the pool company and ran up an $800.00 bill which she expected us to pay for. These folks were abusive to our employees and subcontractors during this installation and we are thrilled to have their job behind us. They have clearly never had a professional landscape job done before."

The job looked good at first, but then plants started dying. After many attempts to get the company to look at the situation, they finally said that the plants were not getting enough water. After verifying that the sprinkler system was functioning, they then claimed the plants were getting too much water. They promised to replace some of the plants, but as of this date, they have never come to do it. I have given up.

The Green Thumb is very knowledgeable about all types of plants and landscaping. Their prices are lower than competitors and the service is excellent. We bought two trees and they came out the next day to remove the existing trees and plant the news ones. They sent a crew of 3 men and they were very careful with the planting and the existing irrigation pipes.
They put plenty of fertilizer and mushroom mulch around all the roots. They did a nice finishing job and were very courteous. I would definitely recommend this company for any planting/landscaping needs.

"We appreciate all feedback both positive and negative as it helps us to grow and perfect our craft. With that said, Mr. [member name removed] was thrilled with his landscaping upon completion of his job hence he made final payment. The Green Thumb did not maintain his landscape after installation as Mr. [member name removed] wanted to continue to use the maintenance company that he already had an agreement and relationship with. HIs trees were overwatered and irrigation not regulated properly by Mr. [member name removed] and his maintenance company. We told him on multiple occasions that we could not manage his irrigation as that is not part of his contract with our company and our contract is very specific regarding proper care of plant material or else warrantys would be voided. That was the case here. Mr. [member name removed] also had a problem with his plants growing too fast. I don't know what to say regarding this comment. His case was dismissed by the court. It is our goal to insure all of our customers are happy with our job upon completion. Mr. [member name removed] was very happy with our job upon completion."

The Green Thumb is one of the more professional and competent companies that I have dealt with since moving south. A refreshing change from many of the others down here. Hope this helps a neighbor of mine.
