We purchased a tune-up for a special price ($69).  The man was punctual and polite.  He recommended two additional parts--one he installed that day for about $300 and the other he said he needed to order.  We called back several times over the next month to check on the status of the part and never heard back from the company.  After six months we ended up having to replace the entire HVAC unit and went with another company.

Technician took his time to explain the problems he SAID existed with our A/C system.  He also took his time explaining options for resolutions of SAID problems.   Due to high estimated repair costs, we decided to have another HVAC company out for second look.  The technician for the second HVAC company (not on Angie's List) not only correctly diagnosed the problem, he fixed the problem in an hour and a half for $205 (diagnostic fee of $75 + $130 parts and labor).

We have enjoyed working with Berkeley Heating & Air Conditioning since we moved into our home ten years ago. They maintain and service our two Carrier heating and air-conditioning units for the main floor and the upstairs -- both units were already installed at the time that we purchased our home. We have always known Berkeley to be reliable, professional, fairly priced, and trustworthy, and have especially relied on the expertise of our long-time project manager, Andrew Volcko, for his advice and answers to our questions.
When our upstairs unit failed, and knowing that the second unit would probably fail in the near future since both were installed around the same time nearly 20 years ago, we decided that a costly expense merited our ?due diligence? and we proceeded to obtain three estimates: one from Berkeley and two from companies on Angie?s List that had comparable reviews and
recommendations for similar jobs.
First, we contacted Andrew at Berkeley; he came to the house, examined the unit, and confirmed that it was beyond repair. We knew that we wanted to stay with the Carrier brand, so Andrew presented us with options, which we discussed, and afterwards he said that he would get back to us immediately, which he did. He provided a well-written and detailed estimate on a range of Carrier units that included links to additional product information and he also told us about a special financing promotion that we had been unaware of ? he really covered all the bases!
As far as the other two companies, while they were comparable in price to Berkeley, one company did not include the model numbers of the units in their estimates and when we tried to pin them down, they kept delaying.  After several weeks of this, we made the decision to stay with Berkeley.
Andrew sprung into action and ordered the units, then coordinated everything to accommodate our first availability. The installation went smoothly, and after the technicians finished, Andrew conducted a thorough inspection. We had a few more questions about the new, digital thermostat, which he explained, clearly and patiently.
From obtaining the original estimate, to the installation and the post-inspection, we couldn?t ask for more! Needless to say, we will
have Berkeley replace the second unit when the time comes ? Andrew has already made a recommendation for the Carrier unit for the main floor that will be the appropriate ?companion? to the new, upstairs unit ? and they will continue to maintain
and service all of our units, now and in the future.
Without a doubt, this most recent experience further reinforced our already good business relationship, and we offer our sincere
appreciation to, and the highest rating and recommendation for, Berkeley Heating & Air Conditioning and Project Manager Andrew Volcko.

I purchased a coupon, which was $69 for a Precision Tune Up and Professional System Cleaning ($99 value).  A service technician, Clay Evans, came out and performed the tune up and cleaning of my heating and ac unit. He was on time and did a terrific job!  My ac unit is performing a lot better now, especially during these hot temperatures.  Thank you, thank you, thank you Clay!

Prompt service. They came out once but a severe thunderstorm prevented them from working on the outside unit. Came back the next day and made the repairs. Price was reasonable.

We've been having our old Heat and A/C systems (split system) maintained by Berkeley Heating and Air.  One of the old units kept having issues so we opted for a new Carrier replacement unit with Berkeley Heating and Air since they've been servicing our systems for a couple of years.  Choosing the unit was easy.  Alan was friendly yet professional and gave us 3 unit choices.  When the day came to actually do the work, we were rained out.  We scheduled for the next day.  The team arrived promptly and worked all day long.  Later in the day we went up into the attic and the work looks neat and clean. We're thrilled with the entire process!
