They laid flooring in the kitchen, eating area, hallway, laundry room and a half bath. The results couldn't be better
I would highly recommend Greer Flooring and will use them again when the need arises.
positive to say about Greer Flooring. For full disclosure, we are in
the middle of a legal dispute. I wish we could upload photo's because a
picture is worth 1000 words. We bought our White Oak hardwoods from
Greer, emphasizing we wanted quality, scratch resistance, were willing
to pay, etc and it was out intention to have a high-grade white oak in
our new home.. They installed #2 White Oak that has so many, many
problems. We are surprised Greer would even sell a product of such poor
quality. We have over 40 boards that are of such poor quality you
can get splinters when walking in your stocking or barefeet. We have
orange, pumpkin orange, streaks where the floor finishers tried to fix
some of the damage. We expected some knots and worm holes but the only
way to describe our damaged floor boards are chewed up on the edges. The
real sin here is that 2 1/2 bundles of extra flooring were put in the
dumpster, the installers had the option to look and use good boards, but
didn't take the time. Our sales man, Jason Johnson, was arrogant and
sarcastic to deal with, our total bill was $22,000 and for that alone,
he should have treated us reasonably and with respect. When we
raised concerns, his response was "that is what you ordered", when we
asked to see copies of what we ordered, he said it came from our
builder, who also has no record of us ordering this extremely low grade
wood.
One amazing thing, although Jason Johnson kept repeating
that the deplorable condition of our floor was normal, he never came to
the house to see the floor nor any other direct employee of Greer
flooring. But, they were very quick to tell us the floor was fine.
The
team that sanded and finished the floor was fantastic, also shared our
concerns with the quality of the wood and suggested changing out the
dozens of bad boards, sanding the floor back to bare wood and
refinishing - We asked for itemized bills by area, i.e. wood floors, 1
for the bath, 1 for the linoleum, multiple times so we could pay in full
for finished work and were met with hostility. we did not want to pay
for a bad install until complete and Greer has not put a Mechanics Lein
on our home. Be very, very, careful when dealing with these people.
To
make matters worse, they tiled our master bath - well, 1/2 tiled and
put in a heated floor. The floor doesn't heat in front of the shower
and where the tub will be, we have high tiles, and the grout is poorly
done, we have a recessed soap/shampoo area and there is 1/2 inch or more
of grout built up in the corners where it should have been cleaned out.
They want full payment for tiling the front and around a soak tub
that isn't even installed - thus, can't be tiled.
We have had additional flooring and tile experts to the house who also acknowledge the work is shoddy.
It
is our full intention to pay, in full, with a smile on our face for
good quality work and product and as soon as Greer provides this we will
gladly write them a check.
Just a small example of the dozens of chewed up boards in my hardwood floor
"Hi [member name removed]: We are surprised by your recent review especially in light of your recent complimentary communications before you posted your review. All of your prior communications with us stated that you were very pleased with Greer Flooring’s work. Therefore, it is very disappointing that we learn of your complaints for the first time in such a manner. As you know, we were hired by your builder, and Greer Flooring installed the flooring materials that your builder ordered for your home. We were unable to complete the bathroom tile because the bath construction was not complete. As soon as the bath construction is complete, we will be ready to finish installing the tile. We take the reviews of our customers very seriously and appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. We absolutely want to work with you to make sure you're happy, and look forward to hearing from you."

"Thank You for choosing Greer Flooring for your hardwood install. We hope you enjoy your hardwood floors!"
They were really good. Their price is reasonable. They were the cheapest that I have looked around.
"We try to provide a excellent service at a great price! We are glad you are enjoying your floors!"
"We are glad you are happy and we want happy customers! We try to accomplish that with each sale and install. Hope you enjoy your shower for years to come!"

Ultimately the finished product is beautiful, not exactly as I had hoped but beautiful nonetheless. My caution with using Greer Flooring is you need to stay on top of them and their subcontractors. I take full responsibility that I did not request a written detailed quote up front. I will not make that mistake again with them or any other contractor. My original quote included weaving the new floor into the existing floor. How much the charge was for that, I don't know as I did not get an detailed estimate. I was happy with the original price though it was slightly higher than another contractor that I had give me an estimate, but I decided to go with Greer Flooring as I figured the bit more was worth their over 40 years of experience and good reputation. Well the weave in did not get done. No one told me it did not get done until I saw it after the installers were done and had left. Again, my fault - I should have been watching and inspected before they left. I wish that they would have explained to me that it could not be done rather than just noting it on the paperwork and not doing it. After the fact when I complained I was told by the salesman that it could not be done (as the installer had noted on the paperwork), but that I would not be charged for it. He told me he had explained to me when he quoted the floors that they would try to weave it in if they could, and that he does that with all his customers. He may have meant to explain that to me, but both my husband and I were there when measurements were taken for the quote and that was NEVER explained to us. Though we were disappointed by it not having the weave-in done, I was assured that I would not be charged for the weave-in which he thought was about $65. Again, since I didn't have the original quote I could not verify. I will say that the other quote I had told me $200, but could be as high as $300 (no more) once he got in to do it. That contractor made no indication either that there was a possibility that it could not be done - just that it may be difficult. My feeling is that it would have been difficult to do, and the installers for Greer Flooring therefore decided it could not be done. This was not directly said or indicated by anyone there, but is my feeling given the circumstances.
Once the work was done the salesman called me and asked me if everything was done and if I would like for him to run the remaining balance on my credit card on file. No communication of the balance or anything. Because of the drastic difference in the weave-in from my earlier phone calls with him and the other estimate I wanted to see a detailed invoice. He assured me I was not being charged for the weave in, but he would send the invoice. The detailed invoice was only $26.90 off the original estimate, not the $65 and charged me for a threshold that I did not have. I called and asked to speak to someone other than my salesman as I did not understand how I got from my original estimate to my final bill when the weave in wasn't done and at a minimum I was thinking the weave in should have been $65 the verbal estimate I had from my salesman. As my salesman had been less than forthcoming with details or explanation before I wanted someone else to be able to explain the difference to me. The lady I spoke with was very nice and understanding. She was doing her best to make me happy and overall she did. The way their system is there was no way to pull the original estimate to explain exactly the difference between the original and final. As I have dealt with other contractors I have found this to be typical, and again my fault for not requesting the detailed in writing estimate to begin with. I will say once you took the threshold off it was close to the $65 difference. In the end she brought my total bill down to my original estimate less the $65 since I did not get the weave in and that was what I had been quoted at one point. Again as I said to begin with, the floors look beautiful though missing the weave in I had hoped for.
I would consider using them again, but definitely not the same salesman. He was unresponsive and did not explain things well. When I had a complaint he was always defensive and unapologetic. When I asked for details at the end he almost seemed offended that would even ask. If I used them again I would also be present personally for ALL installation, sanding, etc. I had my dad on site for part and it wasn't the same. I would ask questions and follow-up with the contractors themselves through out the process, and I would also request all details in writing through out the process.

"We are glad you continue to use us for your flooring needs! We hope you enjoy your floors for years to come."
As with any carpet store, you can select cheap to expensive padding and carpet. You decide how expensive you want it to cost. We selected a high end carpet and are very pleased with it and the padding. They hid the seams well so you cannot tell where they are. Of course time will be the final test on how well the carpet wears, but I would recommend this business to anyone who is looking for new carpeting.
