I tried to contact Larry at Green Earth twice in May 2010. I called the office and left messages on both occasions. No one returned my calls. Recently I was doing some yard work and I noticed that the supply fan that was installed in a vent opening had sizable gaps around it. We have found several types of snakes on our property, some are only a foot long and a half-inch in diameter. We also have chipmunks and other vermin that could easliy make their way into our crawlspace between these gaps. I took it upon myself and closed the gaps between the fan and the vent opening using some spray foam. There are two other problems with this installation. The fans are not temperature regulated and two of the fans blow directly on the copper water lines that are routed underneath the house. So when the temperature drops below 30-degrees F, I manually have to turn the fans on and off to prevent these lines from freezing. The other problem is that I cannot operate the sprinkler system without the two fans pulling water spray into the crawl space. Overall, I think this installation was not well thought out and executed on the part of Green Earth.
Description of Work: Prior to closing on our home, a radon test was done as a part of the home inspection. High levels of radon were detected. The seller contacted Green Earth to install a radon abatement system. Green Earth performed the following services: They installed a barrier (plastic sheathing) over the exposed ground in the home's crawl space. They also installed three fans in the crawl space vents. Two fans push air in, and one fan pulls air out. The concept is that a positive pressure is created in the crawl space which limits the amount of radon that seeps out of the ground.
