Consumer beware! We have moved alot, including 4 times in last 6 yrs. Never a bad move until this last one! We contracted with Carey Moving and Storage in Greer. Intrastate move to include full packing and full insurance. They did 2 detailed in home inventory estimates , last one 10 days before move. They left half the packing undone stating they did not have enough staff to send. We cancelled our weekend plans and packed ourselves before the truck came on Monday! At our destination they upcharged us 25% more (several thousand dollars) and refused to move our household in until we paid. The driver had no weight ticket and told us our load had not been weighed. Carey Moving produced a piece of paper with a weight and hand written date a week later. They said they use their own scale, it's old and does not print the date or time. After 5 months we had no repairs to our damaged items. They said the owner thought the repairman they chose charged too much. We asked them to refund what we paid for insurance and we would have the repairs made. No recourse, Intrastate moves are largely unregulated! A word to the wise!

I chose them because they were A Rated, but as of late, they are getting solid "F's"! This was the worst move I have ever had. It has been a nightmare. We have broken furniture, mislabeled boxes, boxes not delivered to correct room. Every box had a dent or a ding! I am finding my daughters things in the garage, and a box in her room that was full of kitchen things. They had very poor loading and unloading and poor packing skills. We are having to go box by box to figure out where everything belongs. They were very courteous, punctual and nice, but that is all they had going for them. They were incredibly sweet to my daughter also. Their crating service was also very poor and I had damaged items. This was a subcontractor that Carey used, and they are working on that. The front office has been responsive and they are trying to work things out, as far as paying for our items or replacing them. I had an antique clock that was poorly crated and needed adjustments because of the move. They sent someone to my home that had no idea about the antique clocks or how to work with them. So they immediately sent out a master clock technician to adjust the clock and then sent me a $50 gift card to go to dinner. So they are trying to make things right, I just wished they hadn't happened in the first place. I have moved 6 times, and this was by far the worst!

They were the lowest of three estimates. Would have been just over $9,000 w/o putting things in storage. The office staff was very responsive, very friendly, and provided multiple revised quotations as our plans changed. The movers themselves were very careful, and even fun to talk to as they worked. With all the horror stories you hear about movers, this was a great experience.

The crew arrived on time and worked hard for about three hours. Then things progressively got worse.
1) they didn't follow our instructions to pack and quot;room by roomand quot;
2) the repeatedly packed things we told them to not pack and had to take them back off the truck
3) they dropped several furniture items loading and unloading, including the washing machine which is now broken
4) they didn't completely fill the truck on the first load to the storage building
5) they took over an hour for lunch, which wasn't communicated to us at the time of the contract
6) after lunch, the crew really slowed down taking frequent and long breaks even though I continually prometed them to hurry
7) they did a very poor job packing our belongings into the storage unit, which should have held all our belongings, and therefore we had to rent a second storage unit just to finish the move
8) they took no care as to how they stacked our belongings in the storage units, furniture upside down, no blankets or protection of high dollar items such as TV's and furniture
9) they started at 8:15 a.m. and were just starting to unload the second (last) truck into storage at 5:30 p.m. (9 hrs after starting, 8 hrs working not counting lunch). At this time I called the main office and spoke with Brian, who said he would call the crew leader and ask them to hurry up. I was with the crew the whole time after this and no crew member ever recieved a phone call...
10) the final bill was for over 11 hrs of moving time and significantly exceeded the estimates
I felt like I had to provide constant supervision and direction just to get the above accomplished. It was a nightmare. The four guys that moved us worked hard, just not smart or fast. Ironically, the best worker was a guy named Billy and it was his first day on the job. Thanks Billy.
Some credit is due to the office staff. I did share the above with Julie (or Julia) in the main office and she did reduce the final bill by $200. Not much consolation siince the final price still exceeded the and quot;worst caseand quot; estimate and we're also now paying for two storage units instead of one, trying to figure out where things are located in the storage units, and trying not to damage anything as we precariously unpack the mess they created.

They did a fantastic job. They were well educated and one of them in the company helped us to bring all our stuff in. If they come across anything broken they would call us and show us before unloading. My experience with Carey has been great. They had two trucks one to unloading and bring it down and the other would stay up there. My husband would stand there to help them and make sure the boxes came up. We did everything we could to cooperate. They were very responsible people. They would be here at the time they said they would come. We had no trouble what so ever with any of them. The men were polite and work constantly none would sit and laze around. They had some good packers. I would recommend them. We checked with them when we were moving. They were not moving furniture at that time, they are doing now.

They proved an in home estimate and discussed the possibility of a late arrival of my belongings in FL due to no other deliveries in the area at the time. Their estimate was a few hundred dollars higher than some others I looked at but they were also the only one that did an in home estimate. My final expense ended up being a few hundred less than originally stated. I only had one item broken and It was my fault for packing it poorly. I packed all my stuff but disassembled all my furniture and put it back together on delivery. Everything was in the shape it had previously been in and nothing was lost. They were punctual and kept me well up to date as to what was going on and why. I knew where my furniture was all along and was notified of delivery and changes in delivery well in advance so I could make plans. Even though my final cost was a little higher than other estimates I received, it was more than worth it for the great service!

My position was to assist a friend in their move overseas to which the friend was already living in the new home. The movers were on time and punctual. The office was willing to contact me when the drivers were on their way. The moving crew consisted of 3 men. All items were already boxed, except for the dressers, nightstands, etc. They were professional, courteous and packed the truck within the time frame that was estimated. The wrapping of furniture is time consuming, however once that was completed, they methodically moved all the boxes onto the truck in a timely fashion. The following day I watched as they loaded all the contents that were already removed from the truck and placed on a deck. In viewing the amount of boxes and wrapped furniture, I thought that everything would barely fit onto the container. The crew of 3 were able to not only fit everything, but there was plenty of room to spare. Again, they were professional, knowledgeable and courteous and I would definitely recommend these movers to friends and family.

They gave us an original estimate and then we downsized measurably and thought that it would effect the original estimate price and it did not at all. The people were nice and worked with me but they were 4 hours late arriving in Florida because they had trouble with their truck. The work itself was not bad. But I felt the price was high and that I paid more than I should have.

The salesperson was responsive and helpful. He would bring boxes by the house when requested. The movers seemed to be careful with our belongings, stopping to wrap and pack items as needed. They arrived at our new location on time and unpacked. It was a long day that ended at about 9PM. My recommendation to anyone using them is to be very certain you understand what happens if something is damaged. I selected the lowest insurance option trying to keep cost down. This is a big mistake. I was not aware of just how inadequate the damage insurance is. Or that this is the only option with the mover if something is damaged. At 9 PM the foreman presented me with page after page of inventory items that match up with red tags on each item moved. He asked if I wanted to go throughout the house and check each one to ensure it was there and to see if it was damaged. This would have taken all night if not much longer. I decided to sign it with a note stating, "I was uncertain at this time it was all well". The first damaged item we discovered was a 300.00 leather chair. The back had holes punched in it. I was informed I would be paid 12.00 for the damage. This was figured at .60 per pound. This was when I realized that I had agreed to value my belongings by the pound. I couldn't believe this. We are now missing a complete box of crystal and valuable figurines that we will be offered .60 a pound for. So again my advice to anyone wanting to use them is to take the salesperson around your house and ask him to tell you what you would be paid if they damage the article. Then make your decision accordingly. All and all they worked hard to please us in most areas. But I was surprised by this one thing that would give me pause in recommending them.

It could not have been better. They arranged the arrival time to suit my convenience, included extra stops without difficulty, and rescheduled when I requested a change of date due to rainy weather forecast. The crew responsible protected my furniture and house as if they were their own, moved faster than I have ever seen a moving crew do their work, did no avoidable damage, and listened to what I wanted--including relocating a couple of pieces back downstairs after they had placed them upstairs as I instructed. They were pleasant, thoughtful, and respectful throughout the day. They knew I was concerned about cost and let me know whenever a request was going to add time (and therefore money) so I could decide whether it would be worth it. They also advised me whenever I was requesting short-cuts that might save time at the risk of damage. In the end, they did what I asked every single time, and they did it amazingly quickly. They did not stop moving (literally) until the job was done, in 2009.

In 2012 move, they moved in circles, beginning with offloading--ON MY TIME--a ton of boxes that were not needed. After spending way too long failing to remove stuff from the house to the truck without dinging the walls, woodwork, and furniture. They used a lot of time searching for one another to figure out who was on first, as it were, and smoking. Once my stuff was loaded, they again used MY TIME to reload the superfluous boxes. After a leisurely lunch, they drove to Greer and began to offload, again beginning with the extraneous cardboard.

It took them five hours to carry my things into a three bedroom townhouse with garage. Most of the boxes were clearly labeled with their destination room. They were unable to set up the beds because they couldn't figure out which pieces went with which beds--beds they had disassembled themselves only that morning. they managed to misplace about half the boxes; to damage 90% or more of the furniture with gouges, scratches, and peels; drop pictures so that the frame corners gouged the walls; took chunks out of the woodwork; and generally left my home and property in much worse condition than when they started. For all of which, I spent more than 12 agonizing hours and paid over $3000, compared with the earlier $850 to move more property immaculately in scarcely a half day.

I never could determine whether these clowns were deaf, couldn't speak English, or simply didn't know what they were doing. Twice during the nightmare I called the office for help, only to be told that this was a new crew (like that was my fault?) and surely they were doing their best. They disregarded my every request and question, except to explain that their supervisor had instructed them to load all that cardboard last and unload it first at my house ON MY TIME. I requested that they replace it on the truck before loading my stuff so I wouldn't have to pay for them to handle it again. Ha.

After it was done, I called to speak to the manager. He reassured me that that crew no longer works for the company. He refused to refund any of the excessive cost or to compensate me for any of the horrendous results of their incompetence and lack of training and supervision.

The experience was terrific. We had Joe-the-Mover as his team affectionately referred to him, move our home 650 miles. We were tremendously impressed with the quality of work. They arrived on time and took great care of our belongings. We knew Joe was special, when our dining room hutch was unloaded and we noticed a drawer pull was missing, Joe pulled it from his pocket and said, "I wanted to make sure I knew where it was." He was amazing. Everyone warned us to expect something to be damaged, even the sales rep from Allied. We did not have a single dent or scratch. Joe and his team were hard working and perfectionists. Thanks Joe !

Began well with sales team doing a great job and helping me with a short notice move. Move itself did not go well. I had 4 pieces of furniture damaged and one box missing that we know of (can't be sure because they only inventoried about half my stuff). Not sure what other things may be broken as I've not unpacked, but they literally bounced everything down the 2 flights of stairs at the first apartment so I'm not hopeful.

They took great care not to mess up our new floors with the furniture. They were very efficient and timely with their service. They were very gentle with our antiques. The price was very reasonable. It was like $125 per hour and I think they were here about 10 hours. The workers were very polite and professional. They put everything where we asked them to.

They did everything I asked them to do. They packed me, moved me, and unloaded at my new house. The cost of the move came in under the estimated cost, and the job was done on schedule. Nothing was damaged, as everything had been properly protected. I have used Allied for previous moves, and have never had a problem with them.
