Carlton Roofing

The roof was done but I have shingles coming up because the shingles were cheap and defective. They were also not properly secured and have started lifting. When I called them regarding my invoice and my service, I was told that they had shredded my paperwork. I was left to hire a new contractor to help me with the paperwork for the so called limited warranty. The got paid and then they were gone. Beware they are crooks and do not help when the job goes sour. I guess insurance jobs do not rank good customer service or good products.

The company is run by a father and son. There was a problem with nails on the roof but when I called about them they came out and addressed the issue. When I had my gutters cleaned out I was told that they couldn't clean the gutters because there were nails in the gutters. When I brought this up with Carlton Roofing they said to pay someone to clean the gutters and they would reimburse me. I didn't understand why they left nails in the gutter in the first place. I have not contacted them about being reimbursed yet. I know the father was sick and the son had been running the business.

We discovered a leak coming from kitchen ceiling and contacted our "fix-it" guy, Christopher Pope from Total Coverage Painting who inspected attic area and discovered a small hole in the roof line. Chris informed us that he wasn't licensed to do roof repair and recommended that we contact Terry Carlton at Carlton Roofing to check out our roof leak. I contacted Carlton Roofing on Friday 11/18/16 and spoke to the Office Manager, Yvonne. She scheduled a Roofing Tech (BJ) to come out on Monday 11/21/16. The technician arrived on time, inspected the attic for leaks; then checked out the roof and found the damaged area. BJ informed us that he would be able to repair the leak during this visit and gave us a quote of $220.00 to perform the repair which we felt was very reasonable. Repair was completed; no more leak.

We had a small leak near one of the can lights in our kitchen, as well as a few other ceiling stains that had us concerned.  Made an appt. with Carlton Roofing based on a neighbor's recommendation. They showed up promptly and were very nice to deal with. After looking at all the spots we showed him, he then inspected the crawl space and roof.  
It turned out we did not need a new roof, which was a huge relief.  He showed me that most of the stains were old stains the previous homeowner had painted over, but because they hadn't used a stain blocker, the stains eventually came back through. Some of the other places I had been concerned about also weren't due to a leaky roof...they were just humidity damage on our 40 year old popcorn ceiling.  Two of the spots though were from active leaks which he was able to repair that day. The total bill came to $470 and the work also came with a one year guarantee.
 I appreciate how he took the time to explain things and how he was honest about the work that actually needed to be done. He could have said we needed a whole new roof -- I wouldn't have known whether that was true or not -- but he was honest and upfront and very pleasant to deal with. And when the time comes that we do need a new roof, Carlton Roofing will be sure to get our business.

We couldn't have been more satisfied with a contractor than we were with Chris Carlton of Carlton Roofing. Chris contacted me the same day I emailed him for an estimate. He called before he came for the appointment, which some may not think matters but I think it is very considerate. He discovered that the previous owner had deceived us by pulling up the old roof a few feet up before they installed the new roof over the old one, giving the impression that there was only one layer of shingles. Chris had given us an estimate for removing the shingles (thinking it was one layer) but stood by the original estimate even though it required many more hours of labor and trips to the dump. There aren't many contractors that would do that. HIs employees were friendly and professional. They never wasted a minute of time, they cleaned up and checked for nails in the driveway before leaving each day. I don't think we paid any extra for the exceptional job that we received. Certainly one of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor.

It went very well. Honest people who told me that the leak could be fixed and I didn't need to have the entire roof replaced. Very good, quality service.

Terry Carlton gave me an estimate promptly without inquiring as to what sort of insurance settlement I might have gotten. I told him of my dissatisfaction with the construction quality of the original roof and we discussed options I had with the new roof. When it came time to do the job, I went over several construction details with the crew leader, Johnny Crenshaw, and he was responsive to all of my requests. The work was completed in one long day and I was satisfied with the results. The new roof has been in place for a year. It looks great and I've had no problems with it.

He had a workman recaulk the flashing with a tube of roof cement/caulk. He told my wife and myself that this fixed the problem. He told us to watch it when it rained and if we still had a problem he would return and repair it. He made a point of stress how he stood behind his work and guaranteed it. A few weeks later I saw that the problem was just as bad a before and I called him. He initially said he didn't know who I was but eventually recognized me and my address. Because it was raining at the time he said he would be over within a day or two. It has now been three months and he has not caome or returned follow uo phone calls. I found out from a neighbor that she had used him to fix a roof leak that was damaging her ceiling. He did not fix her problem; he just left her a bill.

I really felt their crew was very hardworking and professional folks. They stuck to their original estimate and did a very good job on my roof. They cleaned up everything very good and hauled away everything. I have not had a single problem with our roof since the replacement.
