BuildMasters Contracting

We had the job quoted by four companies. Chris was the only company rep who showed up to quote who could size the support beam correctly at the initial meeting. I am an engineer and looked up the building code before asking for quotes and knew we needed a 3 ply beam to achieve a normal door height. BuildMasters was the only company that didn't try to promise they could hide a smaller beam in the wall. So bonus points for both ability and setting realistic expectations. During demolition we found an unexpected drain pipe in the wall to be removed. BuildMasters brought in a plumber the next day to reroute the drain. Given the short notice on the plumbing work and effort, the charge for the additional scope was very reasonable. The work crews were timely and did a good job of sealing off the work area to contain dust and protect our floors. It has now been 9 months and the house has experienced the thermal expansion range from summer to winter. I can say that the kitchen and beam look great and all drywall seams are tight both in the new material and the pre-existing walls upstairs. We would definitely hire BuildMasters again. The attached pictures are before, in process, and after pictures. The final picture is not a finished room because we did not contract for a turnkey kitchen - we self installed the cabinets. The last picture shows a partial cabinet install because we forgot to take a picture of the room without people before installing cabinets.
