This was our first visit to GCB&B. Our German shepherd dog, Cindy, was boarded for a week while we travelled north for a wedding. Upon her arrival, Cindy was examined by a vet (no charge) and it was found that she had bleeding from a ruptured cyst on her side. Cindy was treated and we were constantly kept informed of her status - all at no charge. When we picked her up we were given a prescription for two weeks of antibiotics and told how to care for her injury, which was much better by then, but still needed attention.
GCB&B keeps your pets separated from other pets while they're exercised - the best reason for boarding them there! No injuries, cross-contamination, etc. from somebody else's pet - my biggest fear!
Additionally, we were sent photos of Cindy playing in the exercise yard: $10 for three or four photos, a great price and you can see how your pet is reacting.
You can get all kinds of play options, all very reasonable. The staff was terrific from start to finish, and I know that our Cindy was well taken car of.
We were absolutely satisfied with everything at GCB&B, and expect to be using them again.
It advertised that each room and run is disinfected daily but it doesn't appear it was done Sunday. I am very disappointed in the fact that when we picked up the dogs the 'suite' had a very strong urine smell. I also noticed a urine smell on our small dog.
I wanted to give a special thank you to the following people: Dr. Shannon Barret has she is my veterinarian. I love the fact that she get down to the dogs level and talks to them and then passes the info on to "mom". It is nice to see someone who enjoys their job and it makes me happy to see she wants the best for my "kid" as well. Dr. MacGeorge, he has assisted on house visit and medicine issues while Dr. Barret has been out. I thank you for assisting me during this time. Kaki Lankau: she "babysat" my dog in her office back in 2011 while I was in California until other arrangement could be made while I was out of state due to breathing issues my dog was having due to laryngial paralysis. The special attention you showed her was very much appreciated and took away some stress during that time. Jaime Thrift and Rebecca Infinger....what can I say...you girls rock! I love how your interact with my dog and how happy she is to see you. Goes to show good hearted people...as everyone knows...dogs know! And of course my most favorite person Alicia Owens. She is always very helpful and just a pleasure to deal with when I am in our office. I have known her since I started coming to AMC and was disapppointed when she left. The best move the office made was bringing here back!!! Don't let her get away again!! You all are a wonderful group of people and I strongly recommend anyone in the area looking for a vet/ boarding kennel to try them. You will be happy with the services and the staff as they go above and beyond to assist. I know I have been. Thank you everyone!
During this time I also used the Vet services. I did not need to use the service for a long time and when I did, the behavior of one of the technicians made me decide to never ever return. The ladies at the front desk were usually very nice but my decision to not return was due mostly to one incident with the smaller dog's shots.
I took him in for a checkup and to get his required shots and shots needed if he were to be boarded. After his checkup and before the required shots, they gave me a long list of shots that they suggested and a list of lab tests needed. When I asked them to explain the need for each shot/test, they were not very helpful in giving the information I asked for. The assistant seemed to be aggravated with the questions and provided very short answers. I informed them that at that time, I only wanted the shots that were necessary. All of the other shots, I wanted to read up on prior to having them done. Because I wanted to delay the "good to have" shots, I was made to feel very uncomfortable. Not only did they not want to give proper explanations for the shots, they made some very derogatory remarks on the records regarding me not having them done as suggested.
I paid for the checkup, got the required shots, asked for a copy of the suggested shots/labs, left there and went to the vet on the Air Force Base. Once there, I asked them the same questions about the shots. I asked without telling the back story or situation with GC Band B. I was informed that many of the shots that were being pushed, were not actually "needed", and could be done at another time.
The bottom line is, I was very discouraged with their "salesman" tactics regarding shots for pets. I feel that I should be able to get only what I ask for because only I know what I can afford.
