Classic Windows And Siding

Great, comments from other people think it was painted and was not, just cleaned.

During one of our many wind storms, the vinyl trim (for lack of a better word) ripped apart leaving about a 2 foot section with no vinyl or protection. It was at the very top where the roof meets, and even if we could have found a ladder tall enough, we were leary of attempting it ourselves. So I looked on Angie's List and found Classic Windows and Siding that had a good rating . . and they were within 7 miles of our home - another plus. Not only did he replace the entire vinyl piece, but they went around the entire house and made sure there was no other siding loose.

I contacted Joey Gault because I wanted my windows and doors re-wrapped. They were wrapped when they were replaced several years ago, but the wrap wasn't consistent and there was a great deal of visible, dirty caulk. Basically, this was a cosmetic do-over. I advised Mr. Gault that since I was having this done purely for my own satisfaction vis a vis appearance, I would be very picky. Specifically, I told him that I didn't want his crew to use any caulk. Normally this is impossible. However, Mr. Gault quickly saw that he could just re-wrap over the top of the current aluminum, using it as the waterproof layer. He also suggested that his crew would wrap two windows, one in "brick mold" style and one in a more modern style and I could chose between them. Roy and his crew were fantastic. After trying things a few different ways they figured out a method to flange the sill into the side pieces so that there was no gap at all. They were doing all this work in rain that was somewhere between drizzle and definite, because it rained for 4 days straight! They were staying locally in a motel, too. But never a word of complaint. At the final inspection I liked the flanged method so much better that I asked if they would mind terribly rewrapping the 5 windows they had done differently, which required redoing the entire window, not just the sill. Without a murmur of protest they said yes! I should add that my lot is miserable for this type of job, with 2 1/2 stories at the back and steep slopes at the sides that makes ladder work difficult and dangerous. Everything was left very clean, the grass was not trampled. Roy's wife did the paint work, and she told me that one of my dogs, who weighs 50 pounds, basically sat in her lap while she was working on the front porch. She said it was no problem.
