Charles was very thorough in diagnosing what the problem was, designing a solution and repairing the fault. He was on time, courteous and professional...even down to making sure the work area was completely cleaned up after the work was complete. Very satisfied...would definitely use him again,

Work went as planned. Charlie kept his promise to return to install additional wood support if the quartz installer changed his mind about the level/degree of countertop support needed.

He was initially slow to respond to voice mail message but then was very responsive. He came out on a Sunday to preview the job and said he'd get it done within the week. The next Saturday he was here and spent 4 or 5 hours getting the job done.
Description of Work: Replacing exterior facia -- two pieces of rotten wood. He found a third and replaced that too without even asking and for no additional charge.

All projects were completed in an extremely timely way - no longer than 2-4 days. Charlie planned so that while something needed time to dry before he could move onto the next step, he was ready to take on another part of another project. Whenever Charlie came across something that was anticipated, he discussed the change w/me and was able to make a substitution that was a fine solution and one that took nothing away from the outcome. 1. The closet is exactly as I wanted and exactly as Charlie said it would be. I could not be happier. 2. The window seat is exactly as we discussed and provides the storage space needed for blankets, throws, extra pillows, etc. Again, a better outcome just would not have been possible. 3. The wall provided immediate improvement in the transference of sounds. B/c of the way that the door to the neighboring unit is positioned, I was told that it would be impossible to block out the banging - yes, my neighbors cannot go in or out w/o slamming their door each way, each time. However, it has minimized the banging so that my cat and I are not jumping off of the couch from being startled by a sudden bang as we were previously. I have recommended this solution thru our condo community newsletter b/c we all experience this problem from the shoddy workmanship of these 1985 units. All $ put into these projects were worth every penny. I am considering a second soundproof wall for the bedroom common wall to block out the banging of cabinet doors - yes my neighbors cannot close anything gently - and the sounds of the plumbing that is related to the lack of insulation when first constructed. Charlie has become my go-to man. He advised me about a patio door unit the needs to be replaced. I have ordered it and he will be installing it when it is delivered. Eventually, I need to redo kitchen cabinets and Charlie will be in charge of this reno, as well. If you hire Charlie, I have not one doubt that you will be more than pleased with his workmanship. B/c I was recovering from surgery, I was around as Charlie worked and enjoyed his "company," as well as the renovations he completed for me. I recommend Charlie Payne, the Trim Man, with full confidence. He can be reached at charleslee812@gmail.com or (803) 322-5336.
Description of Work: 1. Charlie cut out a closet under the stairs in my townhouse and constructed/ finished a nearly "invisible" door, painted it to match the wall color and added the chair railing onto it. He dried walled 3/4 walls inside the closet, primed them, and left the stair side wood raw so that headroom wld not be comprised. 2. Charlie made a window bench for the master bed room. I had collected examples of what I wanted and he followed them exactly. He installed the piece over the carpeting, cut out holes for access to the electrical outlet on the wall under the windows, made 2 lift up openings so that I can store blanks, extra pillows. He finished the seat and painted it to match the trim in the room. It appears as if it was made as part of the initial design and not something that was added on for more storage. 3. Charlie added soundproof wall in living room. He consulted w/a sound proofing expert who advised him to use a specialized "glue" which improves w/age as it dries. This common wall in my condo, built in 1985, was not insulated past the first stud, which allowed all of the noises of my new neighbors to come thru loud and clear. He used thicker than usual wall board, finished it, primed it, painted it to match the wall color that it was, added insulation as needed around the trim and at the floor. Not only was there immediate reduction of the transferring noise but also insulation to stabilize door temps as the wall overlapped w/brick fireplace wall, again made w/o any additional insulation on the outside side.
