Security Choice

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A SCAM. The rep presented himself as corporate ADT; not an authorized dealer. I specifically asked the rep if I was dealing directly with ADT corporate. . Regrettably, I did not look closely or check the website and proceeded as I thought I was dealing directly with ADT. We discussed some possibilities and prices; the operator would not give mea price beyond the basic system. He stated he would have an appointment set up to the home. He then asked my address and name. He also asked my birthday to see if i qualified for any promo discounts due to age. He then asked for my social security number to see if my credit would allow significant discounts "for my area". He lastly asked fo a credit card number to "validate my address". The last request did not seem correct. I did not give a credit card numbers as the only reason the operator could explain was that was policy to set up a home visit. He repeatedly kept asking me "what stops you; this is ADT. I can even give you my operator number". He insisted the credit card only verified my address for the home visit and assessment. I have received notice that my credit report was pulled by this company. I feel stupid that I fell for this and disclosed my personal information. There is a comment on "Yelp" that someone else did the same. I did not purchase or authorize anything! I fell stupid that I gave this man has my personal information. I read on "Yelp" several comments about how this company charges $100.00 for the evaluation for a system and misrepresents themselves as an ADT corporate. There was no mention of any fee for the evaluation at the time the operator requested a credit card number! I do not feel the business practice of this company are 'above board'. I fear that I might receive some sort of bill or that this company might use my information in some malicious or illegal manner. I don't like that. ADT does NOT check a credit report for discounts.. I called ADT after I realized that I was being scammed. ADT does not check your credit for "deals" and doe not charge any fees for a consultation. I would NOT recommend or do business with this company; overall I felt mislead and set up to make a purchase that I did not intend to make.
