Let me first say that JD Mosiman is more artist than he is painter. The time, care and attention to detail he put into our home is unprecedented. He blends new technology with tried and true techniques. Our home is 9 nine years old and the original contractor used low grade poly or varnish for the outdoor beadboard ceilings over our front porch and both levels of our back patios. The finish was fading and flaking and it looked horrible. We heard about JD from our next door nieghbor that had an outdoor kitchen, bathroom, steam room and pool built. It was a huge project and JD handled the outdoor ceilings in the large kitchen. He was actually called in by the contractor to "fix" the original painters stain and finish work. It was patchy and unevenly stained. He did such a fantastic job on our neighbors home we had to get a quote for ours. He came over and looked at our issues and gave us an extremely reasonable estimate to restore our stained beadboard ceilings. He informed us about the entire process including all steps, materials and suggested changes. He has an artistic background and has used numerous paint and stain products and has learned what product and method is best for just about every situation. In short, the patio ceilings turned out so well we asked him to do the front porch and the solid wood front door. Because we both work from home, he was very mindful of our home and our business. He covered and protected all our new tile surfaces, railings, exterior walls, plants and windows. He hand sanded areas when a machine wouldn't reach and immmediately vacuumed and cleaned the surfaces. The new application was a custom blend of Danish products designed specifically for long lasting and beautiful exterior finishes. My wife loves the new look so much, she often goes out to the patio just to look at it. During his restoration work we learned that his real expertise is in interior faux painting and finishes. We got a very reasonable quote for him to come back to paint/refinish our dark brown kitchen cabinetry to an antique white my wife has wanted from the beginning. He will likely also be back to do the same ceiling restore to our outdoor kicthen. JD is the most conscientious, courteous and detail oriented contractor we have ever hired for ANY work in or around our home. The overall price may seem high to some, but the time, attention and results we recieved were worth much more. JD restored several surfaces with multiple coatings. He also prepped and repainted several areas of fascia with a better, longer lasting exterior product. Because he works alone and is such a perfectionist, the total restoration project took almost two weeks. From my experience, you could spend the same amount of money (or more) for a far less experienced or knowledgeable contractor and end up with only average results. If we ever need anything done around our home that has to do with painting or any other type of coating, JD will be our first call.
